porkn****** was very gracious to even answer you question, considerering... -Fill out your profile and do an introduction before anything. -No cars after 1963. -No Mustangs -No large diameter tires/wheels. -Only old traditional hot rods here. -etc. etc. etc. You better go back and read the rules for this site...or don't post here. Edit: Lenny, I think maybe I owe you an apology, and I want to make sure I didn't put you off too much. I don't wanna come off as a hardnosed a-hole. It's just that as KripFink said, there seems to be an awful lot of people who show up and expect everything, and contribute nothing...not even a "hello", or "glad to be here", etc. Also there was apparently a misunderstanding of your question. I feel bad 'cause there was no good reason for me to even suggest that you don't post. I'm sorry. Please forgive me for a moment of big-headed ****-headed ***hoieousism...ness. I'd hate to think I was instrumental in making someone feel ****py for even coming here. Welcome to the H.A.M.B. Lenny. Rick
What the hell is going on with some of these FNG'S first posts? No intro, no hi there, no respect, no please, no thank you just "I want, I want, I want". Paul
it says open wheel car, he must have something other than a mustang and want to put mustang spindles on it with old school wire wheels.
Another FNG first post from yesterday; "looking for a picture or a copy of a car club plaque, the prowlers of so. ca.,the club was located in the los angeles, hollywood, and silverlake area in the 1960's" That's it, tell me what I want to know now, **** manners or politeness. I'm quadriplegic and when I first joined here, before I had my speech program I spent at least an hour bashing out a short intro with the knuckle of my little finger. How God damn hard can it be? Paul
I actually went a month or so before I figured out the intro thing. I don't think it was written down back then, and I am sometimes a little slow on the draw. I wish I could find that old thread maybe one of the mods will dig it up for me. Might be fun to bounce it back to the top for old times sake. I can't imagine tapping an intro out with one knuckle. Hell I don't think I even gave much thought to mine.
Good lord it was like an AA meeting. Hi my name is Fred and I didn't post an intro, uh either. Hi Fred. hey does anyone own a grand prix? I tell you what, it don't get that good at Wal Mart. Well belated welcome DRuss.
There were no intro police in September 2001. Thank God, because I started off by asking the board (nicely), if anyone had a 28-34 Ford frame for sale. At least Mud and Germ were kind of tongue-in-cheek. There are a lot more short tempers these days. Right, and to answer the question, I dont think youre going to find what youre looking for. I think youre asking about a tall-and-skinny (30-31 Ford style) wire wheel with a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. The Daytons dont fit the bill, because they arent available in a narrow enough size. If you are a machinist, or can pay for one, you could probably make wheel adaptors to go to the 5 on 5.5 early Ford bolt pattern. -Dave
Dave, Actually if you have the money Dayton will custom build wheels for you. Some of the high zoot cars run them or have in the recent past. I think you can buy skinny wires from Coker but I am sure that they are daytons. There were intro police when I arrived in 03. If it were not for the intro police I never would have figured out that it was expected. I don't see the big deal but it is posted in the rules thread. I don't doubt that a lot of the fellas jumped me about stuff in the beginning but back then I was a more hit and run poster. Throw it out there and move on so to speak.
I guess it all depends on whether you regard this place as a community or a reference book.I regard it as the last refuge left dedicated to something very precious to me i.e. the pre-64 American automobile, particularly the Kustom. In my short time here I have come to consider a lot of people on this board as brothers or friends that I will probably never have the good fortune to meet face-to-face. I don't regard myself as part of any "intro police", but I would show more respect to a $10 ****** then some of these new guys show to this place. Paul
Please clarify: do you mean that you are running the a 1965 Mustang spindle/hub and want a wire wheel to fit it? If so, without an adapter plate, I don't think you'll find a direct bolt-up wheel to fit. I could be wrong though. Another option, as others have noted is to call one of the wheelsmiths and have them made up for you in the proper pattern, backspacing, width, etc. to suit your need. I hope this helps. VDT
I am so sorry to be so disrespectful. I will go back to rules of site. I have a 1929 Willy whippet . I will not post any more, till I know the score. Thanks to the gracious members for answering my rude questions. Thanks again.Lennynolift.
lennynolift, you are from Boston, so you know what ***holes are. This board is a gathering point for many. Enjoy the board.
My profound apologies to those of you out there who think I'm coming across as an *** hole, but I don't believe Ryan put a "Read this first" sticky up in the intro section for no good reason, that's all. Paul
Nobody cares about offset being way off? I can't see being able to get a Model A wire to run on any disc rotor and have the scrub radius even remotely close? It would even be worse with an adapter. ***uming this might be on a Ford based I beam? and I wonder what a 19" wheel made 80 years ago, will handle like on off-ramps...and if the spokes can take it. I suppose the 3" tire tread width will prevent any tire force... So I ask, why put modern high speed brake on a very low speed wheel and tire?
