I want a single 2bbl intake for a 235 Chevy like the 302 GMCs have but since none were ever made I might have to make one myself,I would like one to resemble the stock 1 bbl intake but be dual plane so is there anyone on here that has made their own intake for a straight six.

No need for a dual plane, cyl 1,2,3 and 4,5,6 would be the grouping so I would just [for starters] open the top of the manifold up using a plate brazed on if necessary with the carb bolt pattern..You could mount the carb at 90° so one barrel each is for the front three cyl and rear three but wouldn't look GMC...

Furthermore, I don't know how you'd make a dual plane intake for a six cylinder that has three intake ports.

  4. I actually was starting to think of a way that would be possible myself.

If it were mine before I would actually build an entire manifold for it I would hawg out the hole where the carb sits and build a new plate to hold a 2-BBl.

Curt B that's a work of art!

Did you weld up around the heat p***age or fill the heat p***age in?

  7. It needs 3 SUs on a log manifold.

Modifying the stock intake is the way to go. Above is all good advice except the SU's. Some early '50's v-8's had an oil bath air cleaner that hangs over the carb and would give the oem look you want.

I was thinking about trying something like that or possibly cutting down a 302 GMC intake to fit.
