Ok so i have a 55 F 100, this is my first build and im lovin every minut of it. Ok so in these trucks i always see the steering colomn go between the legs and down, is there any way i can get it to follow the dash like in a modern car? I understand that the dash isnt very deep at all but if there is an aftermarket or easy way to do it id loooove to hear about it!

  2. I think I know what you mean.
The reason is the location of the steering box, which is right in front of the cab inside the frame rail.
Now if you had different steering setup, with a vega box further forward on the frame rail, you could route the steering differently and get a different angle of your steering column.
    Does that make sense?

I think so, i have an 03 crown vic ifs and have centered the front suspension in the wheel wells, the rac and pinion is in front of the ifs, is that what ur talking about?

  4. Yes, you can either do rack and pinion or cross steering.
With cross steering the drag link (now parallel to the frame rail) will run behind the drag link. Not sure how much work that would be on one of these trucks.
But I'd rather do it that rack and pinion.
Then again, I'm thinking fenderless trucks, so I'm biased.

Friend of mine put rack and pinion on his '57 Chevy truck and he loves it...
