Picked this up off of it's 76 year old original owner. Drove it home, it was a blast. Its bone stock, 216 and a 3 speed. I swapped in a powerglide rearend and brakes from a 53. Just finishing up installing a 9+3 Rebelwire harness. What would you guys change. I have a set of skirts that came with it as well as a set of lake pipes he had for it which he gave me as well. I took the visor off because I did not care for it. Interior is brand new from the headliner to the carpet. I love mid 50's taildraggers, so not much I really want to change. Just curious what others would do. Thanks, Guys

I have a 53 with the same color combination. Nice looking ride. Maybe a set of Fentons and leave it a little lower. Daily driver?

Front end would come down so it sits level and I'd get some full wheel covers....that's it! Nice ride.

  9. Agreed- Too many other cars out there to be "saved". Yours is rolling history as it is, and when you get your Zoot suit, put the visor back on. Just an old guys 2 cents

Somebody said lower the front to level. I'd keep the stance as is...looks more period. Low and level is a newer development as far as I'm concerned, and looks too "lowrider" for a traditional custom.

Other than that, I'd be tempted to build a 235/261 or a 302 Jimmy with all the goodies, and save the 216.

I'd consider upgrading to a 5 speed out of an S-10. Have that set up in my 53 and it really helps on the highway. I'd put the skirts on and the pipes. Maybe remove the bumper guards. Personally I like the ride height, but a little lowering in the front might look good.

Skirts, pipes, caps, maybe some subtle pinstriping and roll. Simple and tasteful always works.

  20. Spider caps, and skirts.
    I like the visor.
Lake pipes might be cool but that'd be it out side.

I'd put a gofaster drive train in it, but I can't leave well enough alone most of the time in that department.

Visors not bad, cool from the factory. Taillights ? Try a set of '49-'50 Olds units...they'll fit right in and look stock.

Later model 292 truck Six and a four speed auto with OD :)

With that much torque it ought to surprise quite a few folks and it'll look right at home.

Nose it, deck it, shave the handles and get rid of those ugly ass bumper guards. Add a nice set of skirts, some blocks, full length lakers, french the antenna, add a pair of spots and a set of Caddy Sombreros with bullets. Bolt on another carb and split the manifold, then you can stick a fork in 'er and call 'er good... Maybe do a nice "tuck and roll"...:D Of course you could always take a little off the top???;)

  25. What you've already done is good. For my taste: Skirts back on, a set of REAL Fiestas, maybe the Lakes, and definitely some subtle striping in contrasting shades of green. Under the hood: ..... split the exhaust manifold and add some Smithys. I'm betting the previous owner would be cool with those mods.

And BTW, that's a damned NICE car!

  26. remove the visor and (i dont usually say this) but lower the front till its level add some lakepipes, ditch the WW's and DRIVE THE WHEELS OFF IT

  27. Nothing at all!

    That car is beautiful!!!
