Not much of a picture, but it's a '56 352, HP rating of 265. The dual quad Caribbean 374 put out something like 300 HP.

My old man has a '56 Golden Hawk with a 352 and it is rated at 275 hp, or did Stude do something to get 10 more horses?

Buick 8, as far as I know the engine's identical to the others, car companies played by some pretty loose rules back then, I guess they still do.

By the way the same engine was used in '55 and '56 Hudsons but it was an even smaller bore and displaced only 320 cubic inches.

I've heard the wall thickness on these blocks mean that they can be bored out to 500 inches.

Can you imagine what a demon a 500 inch Packard would be?

I have an article from a '50s little mag with a 6-71 huffed Packard powering a front engined dragster.

I read in a 1960 Hot Rod the packard v8 (don't know which factory displacement) could be bored out 1/4 inch and still run all day long.

Here's some info from Popular Science, Feb '55. The small Packard V8s (320ci) were available in Nash And Hudsons.
