I have not been able to access the Murfreesboro Hot Rod Club web page. Does anyone know when the Friday night shows start this year? Is it this coming Friday May 6, 2005? Don Coatney
beware of the guys running the show. Class A-1 jerks. They would not let my 53 gmc truck in the cruise in because they said "it's not clean enough" I have it painted up in the mtsu school colors with the logo on the side and they refused me entry. It is my daily driver and gets treated like a truck. Don't know when it starts, some cool cars there, but those guys are such jerks.
The MHRC cruise in behind Stones River Mall starts this Friday night. There's a rumor going around they won't let primered cars in anymore (but they'll let ANY late model shit box in--as long as it's clean and you're proud of it). I think we need a MASSIVE HAMB takeover one Friday night. Show those bastards what cool is all about!
An ANTI-CRUISE??? I ain't taking Friday nights off, just to prove the MHRC"officials" are anal jerk-offs! A boycott of the deal would be just as effective.Sparkky
I had not heard that rumor. The past couple of years there have been lots of primered vehicles there. And several that could use a bath. For an event that is free to the public I would think it would be hard to select who is allowed in and who is not. I enjoy looking at a work in progress driver more than looking at a trailer queen. I am not a member of the MHRC as I work evenings and do not have an opportunity to attend there meetings. But I do enjoy going to the Friday night shows when I do not have to work. This is exactly why I walked away from the club. I WAS the vice-president. Go to Somerset, Ky's cruise in. They handle things the only way that you can. MODIFIED cars come in the gate. Stock LATE MODELS stay out. My point that the MHRC can not get through their head is this. NOBODY wants to come to a CRUISE IN just to see a bunch of cars/trucks that can be seen on any new car lot in America. Cruise ins by nature are for enthusiasts. Enthusiasts by nature modify their vehicle. That's why Cruise Ins are for Modified vehicles.....PERIOD! It's that simple.
Woode; Last night I went to the first Friday night cruise in here in Murfreesboro put on by the Murfreesboro Hot Rod Club. I am not a member of this club. I spoke with a club "spokesperson" and asked if there were rules on the cars they let in. I was told that anything is welcome as long as it is "clean" (not sure what that means) and the owner is proud of it. There were several cars with primer in attendance last night. Pictured is an example. Very cool V-8 powered Oldsmobile. I did not talk to the owner of this car but I was told the car is driven to several shows in the surrounding states. I drove my car to the show last night and had a very enjoyable time. I think it is more fun when policies and politicks do not cloud the fun. Don Coatney
Don, HEEEEELLLLLLLOOOOOOOO! Is there anybody in there?????? Back up about 5 or six posts and read what it says: "They'll let ANY late model in----as long as it's clean and you're proud of it." Kinda sounds familiar there Don....right? Did I not just say that. I am fully aware that there have been primered cars there the past few years. I own one of the few that attended. The primered/rock-a-billy/greaser....whatever tag you feel you must put on it has grown the past couple of years and there are more primered cars than ever attending the MHRC cruise in. Whether they continue to let primered vehicles in or not remains to be seen. I wasn't aware the club had a "Spokesperson". Seems like the world is full of them. I was told by a FOUNDING MEMBER of the club that "primered junk" is on the endangered species list. The problem now is the cruise in has gotten too big. Hope they don't lose control of it.
You got it. Just let me know what time. I will make sure the truck is extra dirty, hell I think I will take it to the creek bottoms for a while before I come to the show just to see how much mud will stick to it. Those fags don't get the fact that some of us drive our cars, and holy shit, are still proud of them. And clean, oh kiss my ass, that is all most of those cars are: a nice paint job. Oh well, sorry about the rant, they left a terrible taste in my mouth.
Screw 'em...do an anti-cruise. If you just stay away they don't know you're mad or even exist at all. If you go somewhere else, and take a portion of the crowd with you, they have to take notice. They don't sound like much fun, anyway. There was a local cruise here that got to be REALLY lame. Pathfinders parked together! The Corvette club showed up early enough to grab most of the front spots...for their STOCK, UNMODIFIED Corvettes. "Citizens" were parking in parking spaces that shoulda been used ffor cars that crusin...no common sense, I swear...but they wouldn't want to have to walk, even though they're about to walk around the whole parking lot looking at the cars anyways!? freaks. The worst part was the owners of the other old rods and customs just SAT next to their own cars...they didn't even get up to look at anyone else's rides. What the hell is that? I know what MY car looks like...I wanna see what OTHER cars look like!! idiots. Whew, that feels better. Thanks for the rant, guys. Now...fire up that Anti-Cruise!
May I suggest to all the Middle TN hamber's,instead of sitting in a chair in M'boro friday nights, going to the drags instead. Just a little over an hour away from the Boro' is us43 drag raceway in Lawerenceburg,TN. The track manager 'Big Ed' loves Hotrods where, primer is finer, and gloss is boss! Friday night test n tune is $10 race or watch. Come on out! Can you guess where I'll be? THE ANTI-CRUISE Sparky
Tell us how you relly feel Butch It would make sence to just start a cruise somewhere that would interest the floks with the same style of cars. A place that lets the late model stuff in and wants to start being selective is probably not a place you would want to hang out anyway. I feel there is always going to be a segment that turns it noses to the traditional cars. Fuck them. We don't need them anyway. If the folks I met at the Rat Rod Runble are an exapmle of the kind of crowd that would migrate toward a traditional only cruise, It would defanatly be a place I would want to go. But you would have to be better than the other guys and if one or two "Not so Traditional" cars were to show up from time to time you shouldn't be so quick to turn them away. Let them see another style of hotrod and they just may end up going home and changing some things on there cars. Compared to a few years ago there are more and more events and cruises that cater to the traditional crowd and issues like this will be a thing if the past. Not that segragation is always a good thing but it seems to have its place every now and then.
If you can't join'em. Boin'em!!! You bring the Gasoline, and styrofoam cups, I'll do the rest!! Seeya, ***Sparky***
hey every one, I'm brand spankin new to the board. I heard about the murfreesboro meet. wanted to go to check things out, but didn't get a chance. anyways I also own a store in the bellevue mall called nextgear garage. i know its far away from alot of you. the store is primarily for the sport compact scene, however, our lease at the mall gives us access to a big parking lot. if you all are interested i can talk to the mall management about organizing something to occur on a regular basis. if will be for our kind of rods. i own a 40 plymouth coupe that i'm more interested in getting running and driving than trailoring or even washing right now. all of my partners in nextgear are certified car nuts. and so far i'm diggin the guys that are a part of this board. If you all are game I'll talk to mall management and we can organize something. let me know.
I thought there was already a cruise-in once a month at Bellevue Mall. Last year it was every Saturday. This year it's once a month. There's also a once a month cruise-in at Dickson on a different Saturday. When I go to a cruise-in I go to Sonic in Mt. Juliet on Saturday nights. Tracy
