So I got my car home and I start digging into the floor situation. I removed the interior, and the rockers more or less fell off the car. I then notice that the passenger side A pillar isn't attached to anything at the bottom. And the driver's side A pillar has a very crude brace welded to it. I can see the remnants of a factory floor brace. Looks like it bolts into the frame and I'm going to assume that the opposite end welds to the A pillar? I'm not sure how it all attaches. Everything is rotted off of the car. Also, if someone can point me in the right direction as to a measurement that the base of the A pillars are supposed to be at, that would be just simply awesome! Maybe somewhere I can measure off of the frame? Both doors sag a good inch when I open them up. It even did this before the rockers... err what was left of the rockers fell off.
Oh and I forgot... maybe if someone might have some build pics of underneath the car, or even from the top side? I'm sure someone else has replaced the floors and took pics of the process? Any help and a point in the right direction is greatly appreciated!
do a search on this forum. There are a ton of good shoebox build posts and pics that the great members of this HAMB have inspired me with. BTW - pictures would be cool... and good luck with the build!
Ahh yes, welcome to shoeboxes. ^ good advice up there, I made my own inner and outer rockers(woodie) but lots of stuff out there. Try and find another car local to take measurements from. Good luck.
For $850 you can come down and get this 2 door sedan I have that has all new floors front to back, with newly rebuilt door hinges!

fordy nine - I grew up jut south of Geneva in a little place called Brookfield Ohio. my first 49 I bought from Youngstown had alot of the same issues you described with the doors dropping, except the seem on the firewall was split and you could watch the firewall flex when you lifted the door. It is tough to find a nice Ohio car. The one in my avatar was sold at columbus around 6 years ago. Good luck with your build!

Not sure if this pic helps but mine where gone to. Not totaly but warrented a replacement. Made my own braces but you can get them repop from emc or others. Replaced a section of floor as well both sides

Take a section at a time. It can be overwhelming at times. What i have done, is make a project list for it. Easy stuff that just takes some elbow grease, then a the list that cost big money (engine, panels ect.) I bought my "Green Bible" on ebay. Search here for "shoebox build" Book mark them under thread options. the tech archive has some great things. If you know how to do sheet metal, or are willing to learn, it might be easier to buy the tools, then by the panels. Also dont be afraid to ask questions on here, but do a good search first. Start with the main things of the car, when you get burnt take a break to do a fun custom mod on it. Just some tips that help me. My A post are not rotted as you described, but my rockers and front rear 1/4 where (i am guessing since they where cut off when I bought it)
