Offy adapter

Need some help. Anyone have a Offenhauser catalog that can give the application for a #0409 transmission adaptor? supposedly it's for a Chrysler 1955 up to an early Ford ('32-'48) 3spd. ANYONE?

Hi Frank, I have here a 1975 Offy Catalog and it does not list an adapter with the number #0409. The ones listed are: #0401, #0402, #0403, and #0410. The #0401 says it matches 54-58 Chrysler with rear mounted ignition to a 32-48 Ford transmission. The #0403 is for 51-53 Chrysler to 32-48 Ford transmission. The #0402 matches the 54-58 Chrysler to a 49-64 Ford transmission, and the #0410 matches Chrysler "B" engines with front mounted ignition to a 32-48 Ford transmission. Hope this information helps. Maybe pictures will help. This is a 63 catalog so nothing newer is shown. Frank you might like to know that I got this catalog in person as a hand out at the D.C. Armory car show in 1963.

 

Thanks guys for the information. There is one ending on ebay about 8pm today and the descripion is vague and the picture is a bit su****ious to me not being familiar with Chrysler adaptors. Maybe some of you can take a look and advise.

What's it listed under? I just tried several variations, and didn't see it. I'm usually pretty good at I.D.ing adapters.

i bought it for $13.50, kidna surprised me that i got it for that, i think the guy couldnt read the numbers on the adaptor correctly, just by looking at it i can tell its extended bell hemi to early for.

Thanks for posting the information on the Offy Adapters. I had posted sometime ago looking for literature on them, but never heard from anyone. I had simply speculated that the adapater I have for my Hemi was an Offenhauser.

Well, a little more digging on the HAMB, searching the part number on the adapter, allowed me to find your posting and confirm what it was. I'll print out the information for my car build s**** book.

I know it was not intended for me, but it was exactly what I was looking for!

I get a charge out of these old catalogs. It's funny but I discovered this catalog in my old hotrod books forgotten about for almost 50 years. I remember getting it in 1963. I've collected a modest collection of catalogs in the last 10 or 12 years and then discovered this one that I had all these years. Kinda cool for me anyway. I'm glad it helped.

 

Any body know of a adapter plate that will get me from a Chevy. bolt pattern to a Ford FE bolt pattern??/ Chevy being to transmission side and the Ford FE being the block bolt pattern ??/ Please advise Steve S&J Auto Has any one seen a Power Glide I'm ***uming Chevy. like the one in the pic. below There's also a Corvair power glide that looks like it could produce some kind of results with this old drag boat, that I'm trying to incorporate a reverse in ??/ between the V- Drive and the Ford FE
