Everyday. Lately an artist has been painting murals depicting route 66 on store fronts. I'll get some pics today. Come to think of there should be a cruise to Irene's Burger Hut tonight. (*NOTE to self* take the camera).
A simple search would have gotten you a load of threads with tons of pics. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=501834&highlight=route+66 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=581231&highlight=route+66 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=573366&highlight=route+66 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=567138&highlight=route+66 and there are a ton more...
No pix, but plenty of memories. Traveled Rte. 66 in it's entirety three times in my life........twice in a Greyhound bus in 1962, and once in a 1951 Buick Roadmaster in 1964.
When I was 66 we drove are 66 vette down route 66. We had this car for 42 years. We had a good time. There is still a lot to see. I used to watch route 66 all the time back when they first did the shows.
When I first got the 57 Country Sedan the wife and I drove the mother road as far as we could without leaving Az. We stopped at Meteor Crater and, being into that sorta stuff, stayed too long to get home. There is an old building on the way outta there and we kinda camped. Great time. Gotta look into the fun run.
i havedriven on a fewsections of the old road as well as some of the sections still in use in the midwest but have never seen any of the sections out west. i would like to drive as much of the entire road as possible someday. i would also like to drive the length of route 67 aslo known as broadway of america too. maybe one big vaction someday?!!!
When I was 16 I drove a steel T-bucket with an Olds and six Strombergs from Los Angeles to St. Louis. The car owner, who was 21, had an uncle who lived there and he wanted to visit for the summer. This was in June of 1967, I had just gotten out of the 11th grade. We took Route 66 all the way, or what was left of it....with a couple of side trips it was over 2,000 miles. In the 1960's, these were our daily drivers because we only had one car. So, rain, heat, whatever, that's how we got around.....
