If it's cheap enough, I'll buy it even though I have no current plans. For example, a brand new dropped tube aftermarket axle for an old Ford for $10; set of nice older American Mags for $50; NOS '36 Ford coil for $.50. There aren't too many more like this around anymore, though.

  2. Oh yep, that's me. Three projects, and I'd still like to get an open car. Engines, transmissions, axles, body and trim pieces, if I think it's a good deal, I'll buy and stash. Sometimes, pieces will get sold, but usually keeps the dust off the floor.

I have been collecting parts for my 32 for the last 4 years, I wanted the real deal to put on my build. I also made a decision I would not work on the car until I had collected all the parts on my list. Well we are working on the 4 banger as we speak and I'm hell bent to have it done by spring. I just call it planning ahead, although over time my taste's changed a little which means I have extra parts, no problem I'm ahead on my next build.

I have no idea what you are talking about - now where was that damn part in the stuffed to the gills barn junk pile....;)

  7. Yeah, I'm one of those too. You have to buy the parts as they turn up and at a good price otherwise you can't find what you need or its too expensive when you're ready. Then the project sits or you lose interest waiting. I also figure if I do lose interest in a project, at least I grabbed some parts to make it more saleable and interesting for someone else to continue. I have parts squirreled away for a dozen projects and still looking...

As with everyone else on her I am guilty as well.... Now its time to clean out and get rid of the things I brought home when I was 13... My friends brought home bicycles and I would bring home car parts.

Alright I am now inspired. I don't have a car yet but I'm going to start looking for parts. As said before if I don't use them I can barter or sell them. This will hopefully help my rodding craving!

Bought a really nice '32 5w in 1973. I've been collecting parts to build it to match my dream ever since. In the meantime over 20 projects have come, got built and are now gone but the '32 remains the dream. At my age if I don't get to building it I might well give it to my son for Christmas and see if he does anything with it before I die.

I'm convinced this is how we've been keeping my pops around for the last few years. Every time he starts looking a little old, my brother and I find something in our limited budget to throw in his garage. Instantly looks 10 years younger!

I must add that part of the enjoyment of hot rodding is the thrill of the hunt, even if you dont need the part.

You don't know what your getting yourself into. First off contract for a Semi trailer rig to stop by and pick up the first load. Then we'll see now much is left to clean up around here.:)

I'm a sucker for a good deal. I know if I dont need stuff I find for a future project then I'll pass it on at a future swap meet. I picked up a 40 Chevy PU at a swap meet a while back. My buddy saw me picking up some of my swap meet parts and putting them in the back of my pickup and covering them up. He asked me what I was doing and I told him that I need all that stuff now for the new project.

I bought a TransDapt bell housing to bolt a G.M. four speed to a ''49-'64 Olds years before I ever had my first Olds engine; the guy with me at the swap meet thought that was weird, but at $25.00, I was glad I had it when I found my first 303.

I was collecting parts for my current project 20 years before I even owned it or knew about it. Model A parts were nearly free in these parts in the 80's and I grabbed all I could. If I had only owned a trailer then I would have had alot more. But being in highschool and not much of an income I never bought one. Spent too much money on beer and fast cars. Rod
