I am looking for other than ebay and cliffords is there anywhere else to get them. I need a small port head 2 X 1 intake for a 248. I think the howards 5X2 and other large port intakes would be a over kill.

    Thanks

The only intakes for small port GMC heads I've ever seen are from long dead companies--Ellis and Nicson. Even McGurk just made large port intakes and sold adapter rings with them if you had a small port head.

Will the large on a small hurt the flow? I do plan on a 302 someday but for now the 248 runs good but could use a little help plus some eyeball apeal. I really am not one of those show car guys but I want it too look the part.

I was told a 248 is a waste of time but I am a bit hard headed. When I put on the intake and exhaust manifolds I am going too cut and port the head and maybe add a cam. It may not be a 302 eater but it should run better.

While the port mismatch isn't ideal, the fact that you've got two carbs instead of one will still give you enough of an improvement to make it wortwhile. We're not talking a top fuel car here; that's one of the joys of hopping up an early Chevy or GMC--almost anything you do to it makes it better!

Get the 5 pot intake, and only use 2 carbs. That way you look really cool!

I can get 94s for cheap (local flat head dismantiler) but I didn't think the howard intake had heat. I really want to use a pair of 1904 2bbl holleys with glass bowls. I guess I could use 3 94s. A small port ellis sold on ebay for way too cheap should have bought it.

    Not a GMC but ??
Heres a alternative thought we just finished.:)
Take the stock intake and mill two flat spots on it for the glass bowl holleys. Carefull the manifold is pretty thin.

Block off center plate and install two of the glass holleys. I had the dickster 27 do a pair for me.

The linkage is going to take some thought ( the holleys pull up and down) but it will be cool.
This give ya the look and the heated manifold. You could run a third ( stock carb as well if ya wanted.

And by the way i have a small port Ellis two carb unit you can have for $150 plus shipping. I have GMCs as well. :) :)

Is that ellis for a gmc? Pm me if it is, I am interested. What about a 270h head? Any other cool vintage speed parts? I haven't looked at a gmc intake in a while but isn't a gmc intake rounded on the runners?

Did you ever find the intake you were lookin' for? I have one with 2 zenith singles with linkage

  11. I wish they would start casting Wayne heads again. I guess they made the inlines some horsepower.

Have you looked at the Arias head? Same as a Wayne except for the intake ports are angled more toward the valves instead of the right angle turn on the Wayne.

Uh, Nick, I don't think '427 is going to respond. He hasn't posted on here in over 3 years.

I think I am going 94s on a howard now. Finally got my BBC camaro ready for drag week and after I return I think I am going to hit the 302 I just bought head on. Still in the air on a cam but that is a long ways down the road.
