Great pics!! Thanks for sharing them. First set of pics, rear axle with two diffs & 2 driveshafts: can you shed any light on what they were for?

It's the rear for the burgundy Alfa Romeo. The two drive shafts connect to a differential in front. It was their early version of Posi.

Actually the differential is split to allow the driver to sit between the shafts to have a lower ****pit.

This particular Alfa P3 is very famous for one particular race. It's where Tazio Nuvolari in the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring beat five Mercedes and four Auto Unions before all the German command -- and much embar***ment later on the awards stand.

Car is regularly vintaged raced by the owner. Nothing better then the sound and smell (alcohol fuel) of it going around the track. It also is a LOT faster than one would imagine given the era it was built.

Thanks Kirk for sticking your head in -- I didn't get there until much later this year due to meetings.

Thanks for the expert input. I was just relating what I heard in someone else's conversation.

The shop is beyond amazing! If I ever win the lottery I'll bring a project in worthy of the shop.

I would kill or die for that Vette! I've alwas been a hot rod kind of guy, but that car would convert me.

    Any more pictures of it?

That '57 was a real amateur racer in the day with do***entation. Restored to Bloomington Gold standards @20+ years ago by current owner after he sold his Grand Sport Corvette (#003). It's been actively vintage raced since. All modifications to it today are of the @1957 era as if done by a IndyCar mechanic but had to stay within the rulebook -- no cheater parts ala later disc brakes, etc. (unlike others who race these!) The pressurized airbox did wonders! Runs yearly at Monterey Historics with maintenance via the shop here and is very compe***ive on the track. (he literally slides/tosses it all around the track as if dancing with her -- good driver who knows his car well) Owner is a big street rod enthusiast as well and drives his '32 roadster 4-seasons...

Now I like it even better! Thanks for the info. I can just imagine it hanging it's tail out in a high speed corner. Sweet.

  18. Or ends up on the interweb, it's a good thing they don't have the internet in Spokane!

KIRK! I had an absolute blast hanging out all weekend, can't wait to do it again in a few weeks in Spokane.

I think I may have to swing through Spokane on the way home from Bonneville. Maybe then I won't be led on by this idea of a giant panda, and I'll actually get to see one...
