LOL ... yeah, you might be waiting a while. Those are pretty tough old engines.:D
You are talkin' Mopar small block, right?
Nice looking car ... good luck with it.

Speak of the devil, I've got a more-door of the same car. I've been trying to find some inspiration too, but it's on the back burner. Yours is in a lot better shape than mine, and not missing so much chrome trim...it'll end up be a learning curve car. Welding, bodywork, etc. I would like to get it drivable though, but it needs a master cylinder, tires...and preferably, a different floor-shift Mopar 4-speed. I guess a T5 would suffice in a pinch, but would like to keep it in the family...

Looking forward to see how you do with it. I rarely ever see 'em worked over, and haven't even seen a regular one in person besides mine. These cars just lack a little factory charisma, I think.

  5. First car I ever owned. Bought it with 19,000 miles
and sold it with over 120,000 on the little flattie.

the savoy has 54 chevy headlight bezels, front bumper, and hubcaps. they were all missing off the car and i have an abundance of 54 chevy stuff. still missing p*** side rock guard, and front and rear side moldings too. i am on the look out. just took it for a 70 mile drive, and besides a hubcap flying off, it ran flawlessly.

This is my "54 Plymouth Belvedere wagon that I finished this May. I'll check tomorrow in my left-over parts stash, I know that I have 2 rock guards, & may have some decent side moldings. I'll send you a PM. Bob

  17. Hey wait a minute, YOU are the inspiration. Congrats to you...unless you have something else to drive, leave that driveline alone and work on all the other stuff that screams mild custom...drop it, paint your wheels and show your nuts, prolly a hunert things you can do on the inside. Nice car!

I just finished helping a friend on a 53 Cambridge 4 door. The car he had in high school. He kept the 6 cyl flathead and hot rodded it with dual carbs. We changed out the trans and put in a 200 4r and rewired the car to 12 volts. He is working out the bugs now and is gonna paint it in the winter

thanks 345window! i have a bunch of cars in progress and i like nice finished stuff too, any more, i just want to drive something. i picked up the savoy because it was different and drive. i have been working some of the bugs out, but keeping it minimal. i have a tendency to want to fix everything. it feels good to just drive it, aware that is not perfect. makes it a little more enjoyable. thanks!

kind of hard to see what is going on in your profile pic, except that it is chopped and laid out, and that is cool no matter what it is lol

In 1967 I had a '53 Plymouth Cranbrook coupe. Paid a hundred bucks for it. It was a mild custom when I got it-'49 Olds grill, louvered hood, frenched '50 pontiac tail lights, '56 Ford headlight brows, skirts, lowered with blocks in the rear, cut coils in front, pale blue, with white rolls and pleats inside. It had a Chrysler "long block" Spitfire flat 6 with dual exhaust and a single 2 bbl Rodchester carb.
Wish I still had it now.
