I just heard from a second sorce that Dave Bugarin p***ed away Cristmas day 2005. Quite qoincidental a thread was started about that time to find out more info on the wherabouts of his georgious Barris built Mercury. I do hope the custom is still around and will eventually be restored back to the shape Dave had it built by Barris Here are a few pictures of his Mercury: Dave in his Merc I always love the use of Packard taillights on his Merc
It's really sad to lose another but on Christmas Day...that ****s, hope you're in a better place Dave.
Godspeed Dave Bugarin. Thanks for the pic Rikster. Bugarins car is the example I always use when explaining why I won't bag my Olds. Perfect example of the early fifties stance. chili Sonia dada - A Day At The Beach on the player
A friend of mine was at a show this past weekend and his car has alot of Burgarin influence.Someone comes up to him and starts talking about Dave and mentions that he always talks to him.My friend Joe says...."You mean he is alive?" The guy says "ya he is alive I just talked to him the other day,I have his number at the house".So my friend is supposed to be getting to the bottom of this asap!!! Anyway the guy was born and raised in San Pedro just like Dave and he used to work with him at the docks. He told my friend that Daves brother was the one who past away and they were very close,he also worked at the docks. Im trying to find this out and I will post as soon as I know.
There is a David S. Bugarin listed in the SS Death Index who p***ed away Dec 25, 2005 at age 76. <TABLE width="100%"><TBODY><TR cl***=odd><TD cl***=left>BUGARIN, DAVID S</TD><TD>21 Jul 1929</TD><TD>25 Dec 2005 (V)</TD><TD>76</TD><TD>90275 Rancho Palos Verdes, </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Well if you copied that right then it might be someone else, according to the July 1955 Car Craft his name is spelled Burgarin.
You might think the guy knows how to spell his own name on his own Business card. Magazines are known for getting the "facts" not quite right!!!
Ya you are right about that Rik, like I said this is weird to me and im trying to get to the truthof this matter.I dont know why someone would approach my friend Joe and say he talks to Dave all the time.
Sounds like Bogie is a nickname. middle name Simon seems right. http://www.intelius.com/results.php...n=Bugarin&qs=CA&qst=CABRILLO+AVE&page=1&sz=10
No nothing yet Rik, Joe was supposed to be on that but I havnt heard back from him.I will try to call him tonight because we need to find this out.
Its good to see there are still alot of fans of my dad and his Merc out there. He did p*** away on 12/25/2005 thank you for all your kind words he is greatly missed. I would like to know if anyone knows what happened to the car, last my dad heard it was in a junk yard in northern California.
dj, Sorry for the loss of your dad. His Merc was just enough different to make it unique. Sure wish someone could save the old girl. May your dad R.I.P. . . . . Dave
Dj, Welcome to the HAMB, your father's Merc is one of the cars that gets a lot of respect here, it was so different from the other chopped Mercs, the Packard tails and the hardtop look really made it! Hopefully someone will find it and give it the restoration it deserves.
I was just thinking about this sled and I wanted to see if Daves son has been on here lately.I just cant get enough of Miss San Pedro. R.I.P... Dave
