Every single manual I have says simply to tighten the clutch disc cover (pressure plate) evenly. Motors Manuals from 1960 thru 1987, Tri-5 shop manuals and '60-'63 Chevy Truck manuals.
I can't accept that. What should the torque reading be on a clutch/pressure plate? I'm not talking about the flywheel to crank flange spec, I'm talking about the pressure plate to flywheel.

    Thanks,
    -Brad

3/8"-16 grade 5 bolts generally get 30-35 ft lbs

70 camaro factory shop manual supplement shows 35 ft lbs for the pressure plate bolts, it's listed in the engine torque specs, not the clutch/transmission section

Thanks. I checked all the engine torque charts, but they only listed the flywheel. According to the misprints in the Motors Manuals I looked at, rocker covers get torqued to 45lb/ft!

the spec for the pressure plate torque shows up in the 1966 chevy car and truck shop manuals in the engine torque specs page. Gotta be careful about the misprints though....

My Arp flywheel bolts say that i should torque the bolt to 60 when usingthread locker but 90 if using motor oil

Now should the pressure plate housing be 35 ft lbs with thread locker if what if i am not using threadlocker???

I have always done mine to 35. Three decades, too many to count, never a problem.
