I've worked on a few older cars in the last several years. My dad was a mechanic so I grew up "with grease under my fingernails." Lately I've wanted to branch out and get a hot rod/custom type vehicle. I am particularly drawn to 33/34 Ford body style. But, I don't know much of anything about such things. I am trying to learn. There are always 5 or 6 "make sure you get" things and 5 or 6 "make sure you stay away from" things. I am not interested in a show car. I want something to drive. I prefer convertibles. I also would prefer fuel injection and automatic transmission with over drive. AC is a must in Louisiana. I prefer the look of cars with fenders rather than those with exposed wheels. I'm hoping to find something for under 45K. I know there are lots of variables on these type cars. If anyone can point me to some books or other general info I would appreciate it. Or leave a post here on the most important one or two things to know--that would be great.
A good place to learn stuff is right here on the hamb. Lots of good information here. Try the search function. V/8
try and find a project someone else started or a "mostly done" project. you will save a ton and can always add those personal gotta have items.
Wants to stay under 45k he doesn't need a project he wants it done.. I'd just start looking in the classifieds.. that would be a good car.
