Ok so I ordered a complete ac kit from Vintage Air in Tx about a year and a half ago. Just getting around to installing it in my friend's project car. The Sanden compressor is equipped with a serpentine pulley which of course we are not going to use now. So I called the company and they want to sell me a new compressor cause " it will save me money in the long run". A new compressor is $200 + the shipping. Seems they will not even exchange the serp for a v belt clutch. He says "they don't do that". Have to buy a new v belt pulley and clutch ***b for $97 bucks plus shipping and I eat the serp unit. ?@#$%^&*
So does anyone know if I can change just the pulley on one of these Sanden units or have any other idea that is not going to cost a bunch of money. Looking for an easier solution to this issue.

First thought is find a used set up at the junk yard, I think GM used them at one time with v-belts..I got one from a friend for mock-up, I'll ask from what but don't think he'll remember, pretty sure I still have the pulley/clutch set up, what'cha got to trade? PM me..Maybe there is enuff meat to do some lathe work and cut a v-groove?..

I just replaced my Sanden with a new one, old one seized, but the clutch and pully are fine, you can have them if you need them.

Mack trucks used sanden compressors with v-belt pulleys.

Lots of cars used that compressor stock as said.I know jeeps have them so do vw's and some mazda's.Freightliner semis also used them. The pully is a cake walk to change just need an impact to spin nut loose a socket snapring pliers and 2 flat screwdrivers to pop the clutch off, it's real easy.I had to learn all this because my new vintage air sanden compressor locked up after 4 months ,they made it right with a new compressor but i had to beg for the expansion valve and drier but they sent it .Anyways i flushed the system of all the metal cylinder plating i could get out and while i was waiting for the new sanden i figured i was better off getting a used one that was in service and flushing and resealing it up .I got a used compressor off a vw jetta and ordered a kit from napa with headgaskets and orings for 134a(soon to be phased out i'm told) put 7 oz pag oil in and it's fixed for the long haul.I benched the new compressor , scared to use it due to possible plating problems again.
