I'm setting up to repair the quarters on this 3W Master with sheetmetal from my '33 5W. What are the measurements for the "A" and "B" on a 3W Master (see 2nd photo)?

  2. Is that an altered wheelbase drag car?

    Bob,
Forget my PM. That is a Standard (107" wheel base) - a Master would be a suicide door and either 112 or 113" wheel base. I can take the measurements or PM your address and I will make a paper template for you.

Cactus1, I believe the intent was for the car to be an A/drag car but I don't believe it progressed beyond the stage you see here. The body appears to be slid back about 10" on the frame, the doors are welded shut, and the roll bar is just tacked in.

I bought the car from HAMBer Dudley32 awhile back. He knows the guy who started the build.

  6. Cool. That's a neat looking car. I just wanted to clarify what I was seeing. It looks pretty solid.

Kreepea - Since I don't know your whole conversation with Kisam, I may be off base, but I wanted to point out that the '34 Std Cpe is on a 107in wheelbase and the '34 Master Cpe is on a 112in wheelbase. Neither has a suicide door. The '35 Master Cpe, a completely different body style, did have the suicide door.

This is a 34 standard that I have a build thread on. It belongs to a friend of mine. I will try to get some measurements for ya this week.

Thanks, Bowtie Coupe - Kathy has a '35 Standard so the suicide door Master statement is correct her year. I'm unable to verify the wheelbase on my frame because the front portion has been altered. I thought mine was Master because it measured 40 something inches across the dash.

Thanks, Ghost28! That's a clean looking coupe. Do you have any pics of the rocker panel area?

Kinda rough drawing ,but I hope it helps.

From the door jamb to the lower portion of the wheel well is 7 1/2 inches.

From a straight line at the lower wheel well up to the top side of the body molding is 15 1/2 inches.

From the lower edge of the top body molding at the door jamb, draw a straight line to the top of the 15 1/2 inch measurement this measurement should be 16 1/2 inches

Using these measurements this should give you the arch of the wheelwell, and the placement of the wheelwell from the door jamb.

I kinda remember seeing a drag car from the early 60's that had the rear wheel wells cut like that in a magazine. Can't remember where I saw the pic, though. Hot Rod? R&C? Car Craft? Sure looks familiar, though.

Kreepea - no problem. Glad to help ya anyway I can. The master and std dashes are interchangable. Becuz of that, it's not a perfect way to tell what you have. But, the master dash has the gauges in front of the driver with a glove box in front of the p***enger. The std dash has the gauges in the center of the dash and no glove box. Measuring across the front of the dash at the top attaching bolt hole height, both are 41 inches outside edge to outside edge. I can get some body measurements, but it will have to wait until I can get over to the garage.
