I'm sorry to ask an OT question...but I know someone here has the answer. I promise to do penance. I have a friend that is making parts for military trucks in service in Iraq. He was asking me about making a stamp to mark his sheet metal parts so that people can find him if they see his stuff and want to order more. I told him they make some stickers that have what appears to be a metalic outer layer and are holy terrors to get off. The stickers would need to withstand the usual engine compartment heat and chemicals. Would anyone know of a source for stickers that would stay put and take some serious abuse? - thanks for any help - Kyle
I have some "requires Mobil Jet Oil 2" stickers that I would ***ume go on or near jet engines and seem pretty beefy, I seems like they're made to handle alot of heat. They say 3M on the back, so I'd look there.
A metallic outer finish sounds like a mylar material. Other heavy duty materials are laminated vinyl and polyester. Both the laminated vinyl and polyester are chemical resistant, but the polyester will take a hell of a beating and with certain adhesives will take a heat gun and a pair of pliers to get off. If you are looking for thousands of them the Moore-Wallace division of R.R. Donnelly is a good source. Otherwise if you only need a couple hundred I'm not sure who would be best to go through.
