Ok, my 53 customline still runs stock rear end, this was a flat v8 and is now a mild built 302 w/c4. At 70mph its turning 4000 and pumping too much oil thats making a mess. Any ideas what would be a good donor for a new rear end?

Send a PM to Fireball350. He just put a new rearend in his 53 cusomline. I believe that it was a ford 8" out of a Mustang, cant remember the year tho. It was an inch or so narrower. Fits great, dropped his RPM a decent ammount.

  4. I used a early mustang. Pads are in the right spot and the bolt pattern on the axel flange is the same so I just used the 53 brakes and ebrake cables rather than try to make the Mustang stuff work

I have a '70 Mach 1 9" in mine, fits but it could use a little more room. I've heard that the Maverick ones are a good fit, either way you retain the correct bolt pattern. 57-59 Ford smooth back 9" rears are also a popular choice.
