I really would like to know if any members ever attended a "midwest car show" where these items were supposedly sold.....the "Hearsefink" is ours, of course...the others are Roth Estate images, one was created by Detrich.

Does ANYONE here recall ANY carshow with a vendor selling these,or is the seller full of shit and ripping us off himself?
We just want to get to the bottom of this.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Sometimes we HATE this fucking business.

    Hey Johnny,

I've been to a lot of shows and haven't seen that at any of the swap areas and I usually hit them pretty hard. I also find it kind of odd that he is selling stuff like this and his username is Deviant Design - dviantdzyn. Any way good luck in tracking it down.

Here's a direct link to the auction.

Also I find it funny that he says this, "its NOT marked as belonging to Big Daddy Roth" but if you look at the picture it clearly says Big Daddy Roth. He also appears to be concerned with people stealing his images with that Sample bullshit across the picture. He obviously knows copyright laws and shouldn't have this up. Another thing, he says he a limited supply. If it was something he bought and decided he didn't like it he wouldn't have a supply. He obviously is using your image to profit.

I think it is funny how he has "sample" across "his" image so people can't rip off the design.... kind of ironic. If I see them for sale anywhere I'll let ya know.

In the past few months we have been ripped off by assholes making light covers, watches in Hong Kong, poster repros, and now this.......
Please don't anyone give me that old "You should be flattered" bullshit.....to the rest of you who respond, THANK you for your comments.

    Heya Al,
Yep..the first thing we do is let the sellers know that WE know, then we alert ebay, who always puts us through this "give us proof it's your art" deal.....sometimes the seller just disappears, other times we get "Sorry! I was only making a few...I would NEVER steal from you guys, because I love your work".......

I don't mean to sound so dramatic about all this, but if you add all the rip-offs together, it does do some damage.

Johnny, I thought the guy was stupid for ripping you off...and he is, don't get me wrong...but if you look at some of his past auctions, he's sold a number of mousepads with a Hell's Angels logo on it...that he just happened to get at a motorcycle show in Europe (is that vague enough? No particular country, just "Europe". Europe's a big place...), and of course, nowhere do they actually say that they represent the Hell's Angels, that's just "who was selling them". Sounds like the guy wants a real, serious ass-whipping to me.

I'd turn him in to ebay if you have the copywright on any of the images. He's already sold two just like it, so it's not like he's just selling an "extra". Yeah, ebay may not take much concrete action, but maybe they'll at least get him to take the auction down...

Buy something from him so you get his home address (not p.o. box)...or a phone number for a land line and "google it" for the info....then give the info to the Hells Angels....Pretty sure the problem (or the prick) will disappear.

So this guy makes money buyin stuff at car shows and reselling them on ebay for profit?

Thus doing no real work and making what probably amounts to a decent bit of cash off of hardworking artists.

If he is telling the truth he's still a scumbag for being a leach and deserves to get knocked around a little, be it physically or legally.

p.s. this guy doesnt seem to be the kind of guy that would take down his auction "in respect for the late mr roth" otherwise he'd have respect for what you guys do, no? I think he knows he has been caught and is enough of a low-life to try and make you look like the bad guy. don't let him get away with it, anyone can quote a car show they've been to and claim there was a vendor who has yet to be named and has never been seen by those of us who live in the midwest to try and throw you off his trail.

    Good luck to ya Johnny!

There are no indoor shows here, Johnny. The major deal here is The Steel City Nationals, FKA The Hot Rod Supernats, in Canfield Ohio. I'll be out there as one of the hosting clubs's officers is a good friend. I'll also keep my eyes open this summer for any assholes selling this stuff at the smaller shows too.

I'd love to see the Hells Angels get ahold of this fool...:) In addition to lawyers, each chapter of the 3 patchers have a copyright officer who decides who can sell what and to whom. Just as an example, no Angel is allowed to sell anything with the Hells Angel image or logo....T-Shirts as one example. Besides, being sued, there could be several major asskickings come out of this deal.

Sorry that doesn't put lost dollars in your pocket, but a little bit of poetic justice.....;)

I don't know what kind of relationship you have with the HA but if it'd work out you might want to contact their legal wing to see if they are going to pursue this guy...

Maybe you could piggy-back and save some dough/head-aches?

This is coming from a fool who has no idea how these things work. Especially when it comes to dealing with the HA. But I know about class action suites etc...

Maybe you could get more than Poetic Justice?

If you never produced the item in question and never authorized someone else to do it, he can't legally sell it, even if he paid money for it. I'd draft a stern letter to ebay and if you don't mind paying a few bucks, have a lawyer type it up on his letterhead. That usually gets their attention.
