I'm in the mood to buy myself a welder I can keep here in my garage. I've never had a home welder, but I use the one at the shop all the time. It's an older then dirt stick welder. I don't wanna spend a whole load of money, I don't wanna end up with something like I have at the shop AND I don't wanna buy something some pimply faced teen sells me. SO whats out there? I just wanna weld my sheet metal up, not the ***anic.

miller mig welders are great, as far as what size to get, just read the stats on each model and decide what would be best for what you want to do.

there's a guy on ebay that sells all kinds of welders and supplies for cheap. i dont know his name, but if you type "miller welder" he'll be on the first page with cheap "buy it now" prices. good luck -jeff

I just got a Lincoln Sp135 Plus (has infinite controls) and I just learned to weld by getting some metal and working on it for a while. I set everything up, gas, installed the wire, and plugged it in, oh and I built the cart too in one evening. Works kick ***...just make sure you have a 30 amp plug to put it in. Definately a little more power would be nice to have, but I don't have 220 in my garage.

I just bought a Miller millermatic 135 mig and a Miller spectrum 125c plasma cutter. The mig is the best welder I have ever used, having a slight problem getting the cutter to come on right but Miller will take care of that. Indiana Oxygen is the people on Ebay I got mine from great price and servce. But check locally you can find a Miller dealer.

  6. about all the 110 volt migs are OK for the cash Brandy- just be sure and buy a welder that uses gas and not a FLUX CORE unit.

They will work too ,but the gas is a definite improvement in performance.

a friend just bought localy the miller 135 for a little over 600 and they gave him the cart with it.

i used it and works great for anything 1/8 and down. im sure with some heavy wire you could do some light frame stuff.

I've got an older Miller 35 (220V) and a newer Lincoln 110V...I converted the Lincoln to gas from flux core...The little Lincoln works good up to about 3/16 material...any Miller/Hobart (same units)...Lincoln, Airco, etc. USA-made welder should work good...I'd stay away from the Harbor Freight and other Far East imports...poor parts/service support and usually poorer quality... You should be able to find one for under $500.00

I've got a Miller 175 Challenger I think they call it. Runs on 220 and is great for home use. Can do the thin stuff well, and rated up to 1/4" but I've done 3/8" in one p*** no problem. Infinite adjustablility and only a little more than the 110v unit.

    thats the best prices anywhere.
As for what type of welder, it would help to know what type of welding you want to do.
