mutch same as asking for a potoshop or tech advice even if your a mekanik

and he even offered a reward for the best ideas
    dont se that to often.

Not lame at all. i had some pinups or oldschool design i mind.but im always open for ideas. im going to start the painting project in June. so i have som time to get the design right.

thanx for the thinking. your a kool kat ;)

  10. I don't know how tophoto shop, or I'd throw something together. I would think more "50's style" lettering/layout. Maybe a couple different color panels for the word "Studio Z". If nobody else gets it layed out, I'll try to do a quickie sketch for you...shop trucks are cool.

  11. A little cliche', but.....

"Studio Z" is 2 colors of letters and 2 or 3 color panels, "Art and Tattoos" is one solid color of lettering, add some little starbursts and dots. Like I said, it's a little cliche'.

  12. Ya got a good side profile shot of your truck inkslinger?

Man, that would look perfect on his truck, cliche or not. Plus, what may seem cliche on a fifties truck here in the States may not appear to be on a fifties truck in Scandanavia...

I dig Barnett's drawing. If you really want to change up the look, remember that the '55-'57 pickup front clip will bolt onto your truck. I've always liked the look of the '55 grille and single headlights.

  15. Here's another ultra quickie-coffee break sketch for ya...ideally, the boxes would be more uniform in size and the lettering, of course, would be even and crisp. Just tryin to show ya some basic ideas and how easily it can be modified and have a different look even thought it's just a variation of the same layout. Colors...think shades of the same color for each box and a high contrast color for the lettering....or vice versa. Example...maroon boxes with lettering in 2 shades of yellowish-gold. Or two tone sea-foam green boxes and dark lettering. Dig?

Okay, I will probably get "poo-pooed" by those who are allergic to new technology, but I used to apply vinyl graphics for a living (10 years) and you might not be aware of it, but you can take any photo to a (big time) vinyl shop and they can blow it up to almost any size you want... the largest machine I saw before I quit doing it was 48"wide, unlimited heighth... and print it on high-performance vinyl. The cool thing is that you can change the image whenever you want. Rip one off, and stick another one down. It's the same process they use on bread trucks, pepsi trucks, etc.

Anyway, a larger-than-life photo of some of your work (preferrably a hot chick, lol) blended in with an old school scallop job, in my opinion, would look awesome! Nothing like actually showing off your work while you cruise down the street, right>? (That;s why I etch all the windows in my vehicles, rolling business card)

Just a thought - let me have it old-schoolers! I'll start you off... "Oh crap, that looks like HELL!"... "Eeeew, I just threw up a little".... your turn!

I was gonna suggest the sailor motive, it blends the 50's culture with the 50's tat world...you know with some sort of a Sailor Jerry flash kinda thing..just a thought, sorry I can't offer more but I wear the art...I'm not to good at making it..:(

    Alright... hopefully this works...
I really dug BARNETT's fonts but my computer is puny and weak and wouldn't let me replicate it on the truck like I wanted... A period commercial green with some contrasting orange and white would be plenty eye-catching (good idea on a rolling billboard huh?) Anyway, watchu think?

Yea it looks to much "road rats" thats why i wanted some ideas. i like your idea with burgundy , but the car was painted grey last summer and i dont want to paint that big "whale" again. so the bottom colour is "ww2 grey":)

Ill be back:cool: (im gonna make you my personal car washer:D )

going to a vinyl cutting shop might not mean you have to apply an sticker to the car , they can also cut out on schabloon vinyl to use when painting it and then just remove the schabloon....

  26. If you don't wanna paint the whole thing over, just paint the panel that wraps around the truck...the one you have "studio z" lettered in on your sketch. Know what I'm sayin? You could paint that panel whatever you want and use it as your back drop for the signage. I like Tinman's idea of green and orange and white (ivory might be a little classier, though)...of course, I have a biased opinion towards green/orange. :D >>>>>

A couple thoughts about your hauler; understated is always better. Go with flat paint, solid color letters, scallops and/or pin striping. If you want to go completely nuts lay on heavy metal flake for accents. Heck, you might even consider shiny paint! As far a graphics, how about a line drawing, under the lettering, of a tattoo gun? I'm a big fan of simple because, well, I'm pretty simple myself.

Secondly, I write for International Tattoo Art. The editor is a car nut. I am always looking for an interesting angle to write stories. I would be very interested to do a write up on you and your hauler. If you are interested drop me a line.

Good luck and I look forward to the pics.
