Did a search and turned up nothing so I thought I'd share this. When swapping in my 260. I found out that the PO had kryloned/and latexed the engine compartment. The combination of the paint, wear, and heavy return springs, the pedal to bell crank linkage had seen better days. [/IMG] The clips split and went flying when trying to service them. Not to mention the stud was bent. Not wanting to wait or hassle with trying to find a new one Mother of Invention stepped in. At work we have these 1/4" heim joints we use for buses. http://compare.ebay.com/like/220316562932?var=lv<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&_lwgsi=y Remove Pedal arm and bellcrank. Grind off the ball studs (sorry no pics) Weld them up re centered the holes and drilled them out. DO NOT try to drill the existing holes out there's not enough meat. Cut a 1 1/4" (size will vary on application) piece of 1/4" 28 all thread. Reinstall Pedal and Bell crank Adjust and install heim joint link. [/IMG] Nice smooth operation.
New Thomas'. On the access hatches. For $10-$12 bucks you can get a male and female so you don't have to use the all thread. Hobby shops will probably have them too as they are use on remote controlled cars.
The last one I worked on I just threw all that old stuff away and used a Lokar cable setup. Back in the day I'd seen engines go WOT when they broke a motor mount with that "trapeeze" contraption.
