It's based on your booster- if i remember right their is two different types of power boosters. look up the catalogs and see if you can match yours to a pic. the bendex should be the tredelvac. Each booster used it's own master cylinder, which is why you have two options.

    good luck

theres clear pictures in my '55 olds workshop manual of each of the tredelvac boosters and they are the same brands as your talking about bendix and moraine, there is a difference so you really need to determine which you have, they basically look the same so you need to look for the details that separate them.

Call Fusick Automotive and they can help you with the right one. From what I recall off one of my '56's is that it was a Del-Co. You will know which it is when you remove it as the iron casting will say which of the two.
I believe that the two come from where they were built. The Olds built on the East had one brand and the others (out west and south) had the other brand of brake.

Pull the plate that is behind the brake pedal and you will get a better view of the booster. You have to pull it anyways to do the job. The 4 nuts in the center of the plate hold the booster in place. It will just flop around once the plate is off but not enough to hurt anything.
Warning, some of the screws might be too rusted and you will have to get creative. I used a pair of vise grips on a few of mine.

http://cl***icoldsmobile.com lots of good olds guys over there.

There are some pics of mine here... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=595288

From what I have read about TreadleVac systems I will be removing it before this car sees the street again! I already have the Scarebird brackets.

thanks for the help guys. made the order this morning from kanter. and from what they say you can tell what brakes are on it by what color the can that the master cylinder is in. silver/gray is the Delco-Moraine brakes. I guess we will see when it gets here if it all fits.
