A potential client has a 55 Ford F100 and a 96 Lincoln. He wants to use all the running gear on the truck. Anyone done this before?
Hi do you mean Lincoln Towncar? If so yeah my 55 is setup in similiar fashion. PM me and I will help you where I can. Thanks
not a big deal at all! Ron Francis has you covered as far as a wiring harness and tci, as well as other companies can set you up with mounts. that car has a 32 valve dohc 4.6 & a 4r70w auto. check for clearance as the motor is 32" wide. let me know if you have any questions.
4.6 mod motor, auto, and IRS. Gunna keep the computer? If not you have to do something with ignition, and get a carb intake. Rich
The Mark VIII has quite a few nice bits of hardware. Adaptation shouldn't be too hard, but this isn't exactly a common installation.
Headache? Not at all... There are 4 of those installations running around here, all in '56 F100s. They were done by a novice, he learned to weld doing the first one. Craftsmanship is excellent. His 'first one's donor' was a police Crown Vic, the rest were Lincolns. In fact, his original one had a bent-up dash, so he grafted the whole Crown Vic dash and matched the rest of the interior. (not my choice, but it's flawless) The other trucks got the Lincoln 4.6L Corporate engines, trannies, and independant rears. (near bolt-ins) This is a good, solid donor operation. (F-1 AND F100; later F100s can also use the whole aluminum front suspension: it's a 66-inch tread bolt in) Good reason to find a mid-to-late '60s F100.
What about the front suspension? I have grafted an 06 Crown Vic to a 62 unibody and it was a breeze, do these unbolt? I haven't gotten to look at the car yet.
