I purchased a 1955 Chevrolet 235 engine this past weekend. Along with that purchase came this air cleaner. I was told the engine came out of a 1955 Chevrolet station wagon. It is a 'car engine' according to the casting numbers (and mounts) and also came with a Powerglide. I have found very little information on this air cleaner, some claimed its a 1955 'Blue Flame' air cleaner and others that its a 1956 'Bel Air' air cleaner. Any ideas what years, makes or models this came on? Is it an original GM piece? Aftermarket? Thanks! http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/acmecorppc/216%20235/235AC2.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/acmecorppc/216%20235/235AC5.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll210/acmecorppc/216%20235/23555.jpg
It looks the same as the air cleaner that was on the 235 in my 55 Nomad...... with the exception of the detail at the front of the cleaner. Maybe it is a '56. Al T.
I believe at some point the bottom (where the wing nut goes) rusted thru and you can see where a 'plate' was riveted on as a patch.
