I am building a 27 roadster on a rails also. Dont want to hijack this thread, anybody know if a 8.8 rearend out of a 91 mustang would be the right size , without it haveing to cut down?
Sorry OP for the rant. Nice thread! Any one else have channeled set ups over the rails, possible with a sweep. Here is an idea, now keep in mind its just off the top of my head, and it requires a ton of work, experience, and knowlege. It takes some years to master this task outlined below. You may even need to buy a special tool that has marks at specific spacing for the purpose of allowing a person to accomplish measuring things to a specific or predetermined length. AKA.."TAPE MEASURER" Step 1. Now use this special tool as the directions on the box specify. Step 2. If it doesen't fit, grab yourself a very cold beer, or down your Monster, and cut off saw. Step 3. Randomly Chop the ends off the rear end at a blunt 90" and re-weld all of it back together at the length you will need. Dont worry if the wheels are leaning and/or not straight, as you can just heat if all up with a torch later and get your reeeely heavy friend to jump and and down on it till it looks correct. Step 4. Now finish your beer, high five your friends as they stand around there fiberglass T-buckets and dance. Bruce... Im not trying to be mean, but dude - Measure it!... Hey Reese do you have any updated pics od how it turned out?
My '27 on A rails. Channeled 4". I'm 6' 190 and it was a little tight. That's part of the reason I built my coupe. It was l-o-w though. I easily stepped over the door to get in.
My friend Brett helped Don build this shortly after I placed the T body on my old Model A rolling chassis! Note the Chassis donor Model A next to the T for the first time since both were drivable...
Its a local kiwi built car, but its not Rodents. Built by Rocket hot rod shop in the North island of NZ, but its on 32 rails, im sure. Its one ive lusted after since i first saw it.
