Sorry to be a "doubter" but it looks to me like these "NEW" wheels. I have been around americans all my life and never seen that wheel in the 60s.

I remember them but I never cared for them. I didn't like the flange on the spokes and my 5 spokes need 5 screws to hold the center cap on.:D Just a personal taste thing. You did do an excellent job of restoring them.

I can ***ure the doubter that these wheels were produced in the early 1970s - just because YOU have never heard of it doesn't mean to say it doesn't exist.

They were available from American Racing Equipment in two flavors: T-70 which is a sculpted spoke wheel with no flange on the spokes and T-70R with the flange either side of the spoke - the R standing for 'rib' I believe. these are rare wheels and the T-70 was the first model out. followed a year later by the R. The T-70 is not reproduced and hard to find.

    Here's some info from Terry Vaughn's www.torquethrustcentral.com....

You must hang with the wrong 'Americans'! They didn't last very long 'cause they weren't sellers, I used to hate 'em, now they've grown on me.
    Your resto job looks A-1.

Here's a couple of pics of my polished 15 x 7" T70 - this is a very rare wheel as it has a double bead around the wheel flange - almost like a groove. I have only hear of one other set like this. Two of these were narrowed to 15" x 6" by Terry Vaughn years ago - a size that was never made by ARE. ******** T 70 afficionados prefer the shape of the 15 x 7 spoke to all others. Bob Oney used them on many of his builds. The spokes vary in shape somewhat according to the size of the wheel....

OK Weasel I have seen and am humbled. I still never seen those wheels in the 60s, but I now believe.

Hey don't worry man - happens to me all the time. The number of things about which I know absolutely nothing increases by a factor of 99.9% daily....;)

If those wheels were not manufactured until 1969 then this post makes me grin. I'll bet there are a lot of guys on this board that would put bias ply tyres on those, call it traditional and then give people **** for using radials, which were available earlier. I'm not sure, but I think they call that ironic. I guess I'm just not a fan of five spokes.
    Still, congratulations on your find.

Radials were widely available in Europe well before they were common in the US. 1969 was still firmly in the bias ply era in the U.S.A, so bias plys would most likely have been used on those wheels....

ive had a bunch of em over the years and to my knowledge the t-70 was made in 70-71 and was supposedly the weakest wheel american ever made(besides being the baddest or prettiest) the t-70r was (r for racing) made for racing because the racers were tearing or spinning the centers out of the t-70's. i had 36 t-70;s in the attic a couple years ago with no chance of selling them and alloway told me they were getting ready to repop them so i got em down and sold off 6 sets of em and kept the rest only to later find that they repoped the t-70 r's. live and learn.
