Have ya thought 'bout a nice 6 71 blower and drive mounted boat style??? That would kick it up a little. Turn the wheelly bars in to the steerers ( you know what I mean ). Whatta ride! Nice job!

  2. Here's a pump that I built for my Boss Hoss bike. I cast and machined the housing in my home shop and used a 383/440/Hemi pump. Works bitchen

"unless the corvair diff is flopped"

Corvair diffs can't be flipped like VWs.

When a standard engine is rear mounted in a Corvair it has to be converted for reverse rotation.

  5. Back in 67-68 Tom McMullen had a Corvair trike with the engine in front of the transaxle and a flopped diff. I recall that it wasn't easy to do, like a VW.

Yet another reason the HAMB is required reading. Very cool project!

I can't wait to see this thing in person. Should be an animal on the road.

Great looking project, keep the pictures coming.

Is the 409 a reverse rotating engine? If not do you just put in different cams? I know when people used to use the corvair engines in sand rails with VW running gear they had to reverse the rotation of the engine using different cam. Or am I totaly off on this one? (wouldn't be the first or last time)

The 409 is now reverse rotating engine by use of a marine camshaft and distributor:)Very hard to find items :(

The LOOOOONG input shaft will twist and sheer, even if its a Clark HD V8 part. The powerglide on the 327 has much lower driveline loads than this setup! Plus, you are running the R&P backwards with the 409 (at normal rotation).

Steve, the engine is reverse rotation, I am NOT running the ring&pinion backwards. Input twisting ? time will tell lol

I love it! When I had the 61' Lakewood Wagon I really wanted a reverse rotation 327 in the back like a car they "Monzilla" on the 'vair website. My motor (140Hp syper and a 4sd) was just too fresh to yank out. One day I'll find another wagon and then it's game on!
Your car is great and I am sure you'll have the only one at your local cruise spot!
