For keepin', no...I wouldn't. Unless you're thinkin' of the $ aspect, and figure you can sell the Roadrunner for a bigger profit than your coupe, then get back into an even better hot rod.

Besides...IMO, after 1970, they weren't Roadrunners at all.

EDIT: Took a look at your car. Yeah... the busines coupe is waaaaay cooler than a '71 "Roadrunner". If it was me, I'd turn the Ford into more of a badass traditional hot rod vs street rod, and keep it.

Depends on how nice the car is under the bodywork. That goes for both cars. And what you will want to do with the cars.

Looking at the pictures you posted.... Oppps no pictures to compare.

    here is the roadrunner

    Attached Files:

  13. Here's the thing. Not only do I love Mopars, but they are all I own/drive. I also, specially, llve this 71 RR because it reminds me of the one my gramps had when I was little tyke (same color).

Now I ask myself "would I trade if I were in his shoes"? That all depends. It seems to me that the 48 Ford may not be your only rod. Am I right? If I had money and garage space I "might" consider it. In the end, my personal decision would be no. Why? Becasue I have little money and garage space.

Keep in mind that this response is coming from a guy who just traded a 70 Dodge Polara for a 48 Dodge coupe.

Good luck with whatever decision you make my friend :)

  14. Hell yea do it and then post lots of pictures of it on a traditional hot rod forum.

Why would you even ask a question like that on a traditional hot rod forum? Wouldn't that question be better asked on a forum that is less focused on all things obsolete?

    Disclaimer:
    These are just retorical questions.

    I'd do it if it were a 68 or 69 Roadrunner. Not a 71.

I'm Mopar through and through. That is even one I still haven't owned yet and hope to someday. That said, it sure sounds like it's not a dream car for you, so why even ask?
Is this a money thing? Are you tired of the coupe and want to move on?

As for the beaner and czuch, they are reminding you that this is a question that will get a pretty obvious answer when asked in this focused forum.
Do you go to a Church and question faith?
Do you go to the opera and ask about hip-hop?
Do you go to a health food store and ask for opinions on pickled pig's feet?

    Kinda the same thing....

i'm looking to sell the coupe......and use the cash on other things.... family related
just wondering what would sell faster and easier in this economy

  21. Hold on just a minute Joseph,,you left yourself wide open asking this kind of question on a public forum, not to mention THIS IS THE HAMB,,in my opinion the last two post were honest,,they were exactly what you ask for,,OPINIONS.

If your skin is that thin maybe you do need to trade and find a more warm and fuzzy forum that likes later model cars,,this is only my opinion but probably reflects others Hamber's thoughts. HRP

Sorry, but those later model Roadrunners are not the most desirable muscle cars..... Like someone said, if it were a '69 it might be a different story, but I'd still probably keep your '48, that's a nice car.

LMAO! That might be true of a '73 or '74, but '71s still had it going on... Especially when they pack a 500 hp 451 with 3 2s like mine does. Remember, '71 was the LAST year for the 426 Hemi as well as the 440+6.

FWIW, I'd trade my '71 for a rod, but not a '48 Ford (nothing personal to the OP, just preference). As for what's actually SELLING in this economy, I don't think much of anything is. Especially not for the prices they were commanding 5 to 8 years ago.

Hell if you're just lookin to sell one or the other depending on whether you trade it or not, have them both appraised and go with the higher one. Then you'll know if you made the right choice or not but if you were keeping either car I'd never trade the 48 for a 71 and I'm not really a fan of most late 40s Fords. After 70 The RR just got bigger and bulky looking and IMO took away from the muscle car look plus they are not as desireable for the most part.

  29. I would. I'm not a muscle car guy, but I think those are the best looking Roadrunners, and '48 Fords are not the best looking Fords by a long shot. Now if it was a Model A or T, might be a different story. Still think the RR is probably worth more money, you could probably sell it and get a couple more '48 Fords.

A GEO Metro would be the fastest selling thing in this economy. As for the two cars, Your Coupe is the most desireable to a broader market. Half the guys that would want that Dodge wouldn't be able to afford it, the other half would want an earlier more desirable model year.
