I'm sure if you needed more time to work on your flatty on clutch popper Wednesday you could of just asked, no need to hand grenade it! Sorry for your loss. Better, faster, louder, stronger.
I love my sbc but at least his flat head died with glory instead of throwin a rod idling in mcdonalds drive thru ......
Man, I feel your pain on this - I recently had a rod bearing disintegrate in my avatar's flattie. When I dropped the pan it looked like I was panning for gold with all the shavings - they were everywhere. Anyway, I, like you, decided to wait on perhaps putting this engine back together and went to a "spare" fresh rebuild. You are further along than I in the rebirth but I definitely can feel the "back on the road" anticipation ... good luck!
You got some good miles outa her... hate to see a flatty go like that but she deff served her service..
The 3 nights in a row of working on it until midnight and then being at work the next day are really starting to wear in on me, but hopefully tonight it will be back in and running.... There is drag races this weekend, and I want the roadster there! Thanks to my friends for all their help this week!
Wow. Old reliable gave it up and New relaible is going back in the hole. I love it. Makes me hunger to use the fresh Motoreco-built 59A flattie I have sitting in the garage in the 29 Tudor I've got up in the country again! I've known so many guys who drove flatheads for years that nothing should scare anyone about them except just plain bone-dog stupid abuse. Congratulations on going back flat!
Not the way we want to see our flatties!! Glad you're OK and have a spare. When mine goes...I have a choice of a 429 Caddy. Good luck with the spare and keep up the good at***ude!! RB
Looks like the piston broke. Do you have a close up of the bottom of the piston? That ****s but you're doing great getting it back together.
Congratulations on getting the new motor in the car. Are you going to be racing the roadster at the drags?
