To reinforce 5W32, we need input ASAP to get anything done in time for Bakersfield. Get back to one of us quickly. 5W32 - am I right in stating that you will not be available for a while in Sept?

She can still "talk dirty" and sound quite nasty!!!

Steve: sign me up for a 3XL. I was at the party Royce spoke of and it was great to see him after all these years. he is just a slightly older looking version of what I remember him to be, and just as easy going as back in 1969. .. ...

The video is great. simply great. As others have shared, the build and maintanance of the car since you've gotten it are dreams that fill many hot rodders thoughts. However you choose to paint it, it will be right. My personal vote is for the blue version. it is more reflective of it being a school project, and is how it appeared at all the racetracks that it ran at, but again, it's just my $.02

    See you at Bakersfield...
    Jeff

  12. The car looks great. You are very blessed to have found some much info and people who were involved with the car before. I have found out in the past few months that our '56 is not our dads, but I do know the original builder owner now who recently visited his ole girl for the first time in 46 years! It was a cool reunion and he has some memorabilia I will be able to share soon. Mean while there is no trace of dads car. I have a friend/customer Bill Trovato who recently wrote an Olds High Performance book for Cartech. It is full of really good up today tech/info. If you would like a copy or contact with Bill, I'd be happy to help. Keep up the great work, hope you can get headed towards "Bako" a little earlier and come the Gasser Round Up in Lompoc Oct. 8th. Ric.

Long time no see! How have you been? Good to see you're still hot rodding! My friend from Brisbane Australia of all places pointed me towards your thread, thought because I also live in Surrey I might know who owns the Gasser, turns out I do!

The car looks cool! Keep up the great work! Hey, how about some more videos?

    Gilligan.

Ps. figure out who this is yet?

I'd like to come by and check out the gasser for sure if I may. Do you ever work on it during the week, or is it more a weekend project? When would be a good time to drop by?

    Gilligan.

I've been watching this thread since it started and wondering if my work schedule would allow me to attend the HRR. Looking like my work schedule will allow.
Let me know if you need an local info on Bakersfield.

Two weeks ago, the wife and I attended a "gala" 60th birthday party for the members of the Garey High Class of '69. Most of them are turning 60 sometime in 2011. The event was organized by Martha Vaughn and a group of other members of the class of '69. The reason I would like to make her presence known to followers of this thread is twofold. First, she organized and brought everyone together, and kept them on task, from her home in Tennesee! Next, when Martha got wind of the resurection of the Road Agents project car, she took the bull by the horns. With her characteristic tenacity, she organized an internet/facebook/GHS alumni site campaign to get the word out to all Garey grads about the current British Columbia connection and 20th Annual NHRA Hotrod Reunion in Bakersfield.

For the past week, I have received at least one contact per day from former Garey auto shop students and former Road Agents. Most have indicated that they will try to make it to at least one of the days of the event in Bakersfield. Some plan to come from out of state. What a testament to the rich and emotional heritage following a car that was assumed by many to never be possible.

The reason the class of '69 is important to the history of Great Balls 'O' Fire, is that was the year when the plan to build her was conceived, and when the "Elephant" engine we used was born in Livonia Mich. We did not get it until 1970.

Thank you Martha, and all the GBF and 5w32 fans, who have been following this thread.

Final observation - the motel rates in Bakersfield for the weekend of the Reunion are "outrageous." However, I just bit my lip, and paid, because I want to see my old girl friend, in person, so badly. Also, I guess seeing 5w32 again won't be too bad, even though I am insanely jealous!!!!!

I just popped over to see what else might have been written about our Garey car, and read your very kind words, Mr. Hunt. Thanks so much...I'll continue to "get the word out." Hope Bakersfield has LOTS of Garey Vikings there to watch GBF!

HI, Tom--Wish I could, but I'll be going back to CA in early October and have to be back home around the 11th, so I won't be able to make it. I am sure there will be some from my class going, and I will make sure to ask them to take pictures and video so we can share it with all us Vikings who couldn't go. I will continue to promote it, though. I think it's really neat. Make sure you take pictures too, and post them. Are you on Facebook? If you are, I'm under Martha Bentley.
