finally! it is time to start my first mild custom. 1950 ford 2 door sedan. i do have a pic in my head for what she will look like. chopped at some point shes lowered 3 inch all around already, needs a dual exhaust unless someone can make a single pipe sound like a good idea. its a single straight pipe right now. it will have 15 inch white walls on it comin next week, and the interior is still comin together in my head. im lookin for any ideas or comments on other things to think about or good places to look for detail stuff like emblems radios etc. also any ideas on lil exterior things i can add to keep it screamin im from the fifties but still be a clean custom. much apreciated thank you.
If you're "from the fifties" then you've got a good idea of what a mild kustom should look like...on here, you're going to get many people telling you it must be chopped...others will tell you not to chop it... many more will tell you it needs an SBC to motorvate it, as many will tell you it's got to be black to be cool and as many will tell you any color as long as it's not black. To many, the interior will have to be rolls & pleats, in white only and others will tell you it's got to be black diamond pleated... So, having stated all that...do the car the way you visualize it and forget opinions, I would (and did...!!!) Go here to see my build: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329070&highlight=the+best+55+caddy+build R-
Yeah your best bet is to build it with your ideas, but think them through so as not to do them twice. Then post up your build pics showing how you did it, and don't ask for opinions cuz there are to many of us on here that are ready to give ours. In the end it will be all about your build and how you did it. I have a 51 ford club coupe for a future build, so I will be following along. Good luck. you are on the right track...John
With the pictures you show, if that is how the car looks now you have a long way to go before you have to worry about WW tires, dual exhaust, and the radio. Make a list of everything you are going to do and start there. You don't build a car from the radio down. You start at the frame and go up, make a list as I said, it will make it a lot easier, and keep you on track. And by the pictures you have a lot of body work. 3w If your not living on the edge, your taking up too much room.
totally agree with the list! It'll keep you from getting to overwhelmed and unorganized. Focus on one thing at a time and build it like your vison in your head.
Overchop, re-lower and paint it flat black with red wheels like everyone else OR do it your way. Do some lurking here and you'll see what turns you on and off...
makes sense alright ill quit askin for opinions cause your right that could lead to craziness. and to 33 ford from the look of it its in pieces actually straight as an arrow with lil or no rust and once the lil things are tied together the interior and paint is all it will need the thing is super solid just dont look like much. and the coker white walls are free and new so theres no time like now to get em ; ) shes gotta have a nice set of shoes ; )
you'll get plenty of ideas here, i'm sure a few will stick, just make sure its what you really want and not what somebody else told you you wanted. just keep it safe and take the time to detail the crap out of everything you take off, clean is damned near free and it will set your car apart from the one next to it.
