Coooool!!! drive it as is for awhile then make the changes you want. Other than a safety or cosmetic change I'd leave er be very nice car.

I think I would just get it safe and drive it, I would probably end up putting a set of wheels and new tires and drop it some but that be it. Very nice car!

    Happy Birthday, Heather!

Proceed with caution here! If the engine hadn't run in a good long time, the oil pump byp*** may have stuck shut! (oil pressure goes 'way up, and that may be what burst your filter cannister)

This is sometimes caused by the addition of oil-inhibiting additives or even an oil change. (high detergent oil? Did you change to a synthetic?)

It is really a nice car Ron! I think I would just lower it down a little and leave the rest alone! What...you got rid of the A? :)

The brakes on these are actually hydraulic and pretty kick*** for their time. Keep em adjusted and you'll have no trouble stopping with the flat 6.

I would lower it, steel wheels, split the exhaust... done! Nice find!

The car looked great in person. Congrats again. I heard the guy that bought your A is gonna make a sweet rat rod out of it. ;)

Happy Belated Birthday to your wife, and Congrats on the new ride! It looks great. I'd clean up the upholstery, leave the rest as is and go driving.

Congrats, Heather and Happy Birthday! Ron, you are a good man! That is one sweet little car! And I agree to what was posted, the brakes were hydraulic as I had a 31 Chrysler for a time with them. It really did stop well.

Looking forward to seeing the car at GG Charlotte perhaps?! If so, in the NE when someone gets a new car, you get a handful of change and throw it into the interior of the car. It's a form of good luck to the new owner. So, I'm "virtually" throwing in the change now and I'll do it in person @ GG Charlotte!

I'm just jealous that you have a wife that would want an old car like that for her birthday!! :) That is cool!! As far as the car goes.......the Purist in me says keep it as is, but that's just me. That gauge lay-out it the best!

I would drive it a while before changing anything, and then probably only change things that could easily be changed back. I don't know what if any kind of speed parts are available for that motor, but a hopped up near stock looking ride would be cool.

Guys, thanks again. We couldn't be any more excited.

I'll tell you that I am surprised by the responses though. I am impressed with the sense of restraint that all of you have with modifying this car. I am 100% with all of you to lower the car and run different tires and wheels. All we want to do is enjoy this.

    Thanks,

Congratulations and happy birthday to Heather! What a great birthday present. My avatar is a '32 PB Plymouth that I've had for 49 years. I suggest converting it to 12 volts and putting an alternator on it. Check out the wiring and replace any frayed sections. Then I'd drive the heck out of it. You haven't lived 'til you've driven an early Plymouth coast-to-coast. Heather is a lucky girl and you are a fortunate man.
