Are the friction shocks more reliable then say a gas shock?

You can always go with an tri-5 Olds dash cluster. It's big, funky, and would certainly fill that dash out. I'll have to look around and see if I can find anything different.

There's a thread all about that, "What dash do you have in your Model A" or something like that.

Don't know. I'd stick to the formula that has worked twice for me. Follow your dream. Solid fundamentals, then style, creature comforts last. Get passionate, thoughtful and talented help, like Chris, if you don't have talent. Life is good and fun with if you have a project, something to look forward to. Run fast, cool and noisy. Cheers.

Sorry. Waxed poetic (read strange) for a minute. I'm sure you would not want to compete with these, but they feel good. I'm betting they are up to the task of looking good and cruising safe and reasonably comfortably. let's face it, friction shocks are style over function, but not by too much is my SWAG (semi wild ass guess). :)

Ive been working on the start of mounting the column to the dash, and the bracing for the floor.

I got the front part of the floor made. Put in an access panel for the brakes. Now its on to the trans tunnel.

Started on the trans tunnel. Kind of a lot going on trying to make it fit around everything, and also make sure that the steering brace can bolt through it.

I got the trans tunnel pretty well finished up. Kind of an intricate piece where it had to go around so many different things.

    Wow! Great work. Any updates?
I have the same Cab and frame from Norb. Curious to know the dimensions of your cab?

I'm getting back on the roaster again, going to finish up some things.

I'm in the process of making a panhard bar for the front. I got the one bracket made.

I'm interested that you've opted for a panhard bar given I would have thought the 1/4 elliptic springs would have laterally located the axel sufficiently. Good idea though I think I may do the same with my roadster too.

Actually the quarter elliptic doesn't have any side to side location. I can shift the frame almost an inch back and forth myself. So it really needs a panhard bar.

I got the other bracket made that attaches to the axle. Now it just needs the new bar and its ready to go.

The windows arent shaped in the front to match up with the windshield frame. They were designed for a different windshield.

Iv'e been working on re-setting up the rear axle. When I got it the spring was mounted in front of the axle, and we ended up switching it to the rear. So I re-checked all the bearing preload's and got the axle back together again.

I made a fixture that allows me to bolt the front of the quickchange. Then I can spin it either straight, or on its right and left side. It sure made it super simple to set up the quickchange. I then had to make a simple bracket that changed the bolt pattern from the winters quickchange to the ford bolt pattern so I could bolt it up.

Ya the owner has another set of doors that don't have any windows, just smooth tops. He plans on just swapping them for the ones on it.

Im getting the rest of the areas done on this car so that the owner can take it from here.

I finished the bottom of the gas tank, so that's all finished.
I got the front panhard bar on the car.
I finish welded the exhaust headers.
And I've just got to do a bunch of finish welding on the frame, and it will be ready to go.
