This is just a warning to anyone here who may be shipping through UPS Canada. No matter what insurance you place on an item, they are unwilling to honor it.

They Claim: "Antiques are accepted for carriage by UPS canada at the Shipper's own risk against loss or damage, therefore no claims shall be processed."

I have been disputing a claim with them trying resolve an insurance claim for a part they damaged. They do not call you back, and they do not care to make their customers happy.

I just want to warn everyone here that UPS Canada is not a safe way to ship your parts. If anyone here has had a similar experience, or a contrary one to show UPS Canada worth their salt, please feel free to post it.

UPS are crap wherever you ship..
The amount they gouge us for 'Brokerage' you'd think they'd deliver the stuff by Limo.

  3. UPS blows dead bears.....that is all.

  4. We ship into Canada daily via UPS. Glad I dont ship antiques!

Ever tried to get something of yours (rental) back from Canada?
Three weeks later we finally had the correct paperwork filed after many tries and we ship all over the world!
    That will never happen again...

From my experience UPS has gotten bad in the past few years. Just about every package I get through UPS looks like it was run over by their truck. Once I had to file a clain for damaged sheet metal panels. Once resolved, the vendor sent another set. I happened to be home when the driver tried to "drop and run". He was going to leave another damaged package on my doorstep. I caught him and made him come back and open the package to make sure the parts were not damaged. As he was opening it he told me that any package opened became mine and I would have to deal with it. I said then don't leave damaged packages on my doorstep. Its exactly what the driver wants...to drop the package and run....then you to deal with the damage and not him.

  6. I dodge any ebay item or any other business that' ships UPS. BANDITS. So i wonder how much business is lost at vendors that use UPS and they don't even know it. So vendors..... there ya go.

  7. I would NEVER ship anything into Canada with UPS. They are crooks. As mentioned their brokerage charges are outrageous. Doesn't surprise me in the least that they weasel their way out of paying insurance.

I use USPS and FedEx and have never had a problem with either one. I did
have to file a damage claim once thru FedEx and they paid it with no problems.

  12. What is the definition of antique?

  13. Anything older than yesterday.

Actually, that is a good question. How DO they define "antique"???

Ask your customers about the phony brokerage fees they have to pay crossing the border.

PLEASE offer your Canada customers the option of the post office USPS

  17. It varies, however a 101 old bookcase would be considered an antique, HOWEVER, an automotive part is normally considered an "antique" if it is over 25 years old.
That leaves most humans as just plain old farts.......

Will never ship UPS ever again. Their brokerage charges are often worth more than the item. USPS is the only way I ever ship from the US to Canada.

Brokerage is insane with UPS .
I didn t take time yet to verify the information , but it seems we can avoid paying them for old car parts .

Any Canadian should read this link , but as said , I didn t verify yet :

  24. UPS is pronounced "oops" isn't it?

The reality though is anything you ship has to be packed so it will survive about a 20 foot fall to a concrete floor. The conveyors in the terminal can get that high off the floor, and if there's a jam the offending item is poked off with a stick.

And unless it's really huge, postal is the way to go for US to Canada, because of the brokerage mainly.

  25. yes UPS charges more but the worst service was FEDEX they lost ten wheels for two weeks when I called and told them that it was time to replace them they were found sitting on the dock in Albany got them the next day. last year I was waiting for a dry sump from Steff's and the UPS driver called me to ask if I was in a hurry to get it if so we could meet somewhere and that's what happened or else I would have waited until 4pm for it.

  26. I have heard this before but I am using a shipping company to ship for me and don't want the hassle of having to argue with them and then clear stuff myself. It would be nice to have them do their job without bending me over.

Still arguing with them. To define antique, the person I spoke to googled it.... I much prefer the post office.

yep, if you need to cross border ship, use usps/cda post. ups are crooks, i won't buy from an epay seller who only uses ups.

This is true that there is no tarrif, but the Brokerage charge is for merely doing the paperwork, any duties are on top of that.
