I have a head scratcher of a problem. I took the front suspension on my truck all apart to clean inspect and paint. All stock with disc brake kit and a few leaves removed. P/O said that it had all been rebuilt and this was the case. After cleaning and paint I re***embled it. Now when I drive the steering wheel is centered as it was, if i hit a bump at the right angle the steering wheel is turned to the right approimately 20 degrees to drive straight! If I apply firm brake pressure the steering wheel goes back to being centered. I know that something is moving that should not be but I can't see or find the cause. I thought perhaps the shackles were binding but they appear O.K. I hope that I have explained this correctly so it can be understood. Steering box was new as well. Thanks in advance for any input. The Truck.
Just need to get back under it and go thru it piece by piece and you will sort it out. Great effie by the way. I am a litle partial to slant cabs myself.
Thanks guys, I'll go back at Saturday A.M. and check the centering bolts first, and if not them, then I'll go thru it bit by bit. Thanks again!
I agree, sounds like a centre pin issue to me . Real smart looking '53 you have there . (hell I'm probably bi***ed) .
To follow up and post problem found. Stock drag link was the cause, I was able to tighten each end by 1/2 turn and now the wheel is centred again and not moving. Thanks again for your input and help. This place Rocks!
