I have been working on this for my kd for a few years. he is 8, and now his car runs and drives. This winter I will tear it down and do the paint and chroming. but for now, here it is.

Jim,... that coupe is really cool,... I remember when I asked you about it, when it was a pile of parts a couple years ago,.. you said "nah",.. I going to build it for my son,...

But you had a lot on your plate at the time, so I thought you would get to it in a decade or so,..... You never fail to amaze me !,.... Nice work,... AGAIN !

I heard that people stack around Jim's house during allergy season: he sneezes out nicer cars than most folks can build in a decade...

The kid wants it blood red with classic flames. I am trying to find someone that can chrome the entire frame.

Advance plating did it on the owners car but I think they made the frame bolt together. Chromezilla I think it was called.

Very cool, your son is one lucky kid...

I've heard some people have had issues over time with an entire frame being chromed though, didn't one of roth's show cars have a chrome frame that was found to be unusable when they restored it? Maybe it depends on the process used?

I bought my son a 46 ford coupe when he was 15. It has a 351 c in it.

It had a motor mount that was a little loose. When we put the fan shroud on it and you tried to take off fast, the fan would hit the shroud and make one heck of a noise.
I left it like that for 2 years.;) solved the burnout issue!!

He is 19 now has taken really good care of his car.

I told him I will sign it over to him when he graguates college.

I'm sure your son is stoked!!!

Very cool, I dig it just the way it is, but I'm sure it will rock when it's done.
