These are from last Saturday's CPMCC meeting and picnic. Some are not the greatest photos because they were outside, under a large pavillion.
This is a model I did of my Dad's 37 Chevy business coupe. Stock all around with an updated 56 Chevy 235, but it has possibilities ...

Wow, thanks for sharing this incredible art, i have always liked building models, it is what got me started in this hobby in the 60's. Where you guys have taken it today is inspiring. Sometimes I think I should downsize my collection of real cars and get back to models. My youngest son and I just love the rusted junkyard scenes. A while back on You tube there was a scene of a 62 Chevy that hit a pole and the driver was thru the windshield, a lil too much perhaps for the squeamish as it was deleted, the artist also had some incredible junkyard scenes. I can not seem to locate it, any info on this artist?
Here is one of my favorites....only changes I made were the front wheels and tires......which came from the Lil Coffin kit. This was built from a 100% mint untouched original kit too. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
That 57 Ford reminded me of a idea I had of making distorted cartoon style gassers out of old warped up promo cars . Of course it would have to be the right kind of warp. They look like they have been through some body bending torque to start with. Good looking stuff as usual.
That is what that '57 Fairlane started out as.......a warped promo. So, what would any guy do that read Cartoons magazine as a kid?! LOL! I cut the hood out of the body and replaced it with one of my resin teardrop hoods.....robbed the parts box, replaced the metal chassis with a resin copy of an old AMT '59 Fairlane chassis since it had the promo style engine blank molded in; and made the flames coming out of the headers by heating up and twisting square styrene rods. Just something different and a way to utilize an old warped promo.
Zed, in a word, you floor me... I was just looking over the article in Zombies' R & K rag about you so seeing something fresh from you is very appropriate from the 'timing' perspective. Nice, clean work Lyle. You too Alyn. Cory, I was thinking the same thing... I have an issue of scale auto with an article on how to remove the warp from old promo kits. The 1960 Ford they use in it has the same distortion as this '57 Fairlane. Deanopopino, great work, the '40 is a beauty! I like them all but I really like this one. I was going to ask where the tires were from but You were nice enough to provide that info. I want a set of those so I can build the following: ('er,... the car, not the girl... maybe with some super sculpy.) I was also just thinking I shoud buy a Li'l Coffin even though my wife would say I most certainly shouldn't buy one, ha, ha! (I need to build the ones I've got...) (My Birthday is coming up tho...Hmmmm......)
I hear ya. I started one that would be in the 1/12th scale range. Tell me about that '59 Ford Wagon, that thing is cool!
