If you are tired of plain jane parking lot car shows and you are a history buff, this is the show to atend, besides the low brow art show and the car show, this is an oportunity to visit the first town founded in California in 1769, visit the historic buildings ,museums, shops and many restauraunts, most the buildings are from the early 1800's visit the world famous whaley's house, rated americas most Haunted house, Experience San Diegos perfect weather and beutiful bay, leave your car at the car show and ride the trolly to down town San Diego's Gas lamp Quarter, the star of India, an old wooden sailing ship, and many other atractions. The Lifters Car Club will be helping host the event, this is a truely unique venue that offers many things to see and do and is a must not miss event.there is only 100 car spaces available , so i sugest you preregister, or drive the honda down and bring the whole family.

Old Town San Deigo is nice. In fact most all of SD is nice. I have not been there in over 10 yrs. I got to get back to San Deigo for holidays soon. If I could make it to that car show I would be there!

Everyone knows I love to eat good food, another atraction close by that you could ride the trolly from the show is San Diego's Little Italy; originaly an Italian fishing village that overlooks the bay, in the 40's and 50's , alot of the homes were converted into restaurants, shops, and bakerys, my favorite is Filipies Pizza Grotto, As you walk into the place , you first experience it's deli and italian market, you'll see imported cheeses hangining from the rafters with some of the best cold cuts you can find anywhere and it's italian bakery with breads that are a work of art, or the big barrel of stuffed greek olives, the smell alone drives you nuts ! after you buy your goodies, you walk into the restaurant , this isn't some Papa John's coporate crap, the sauces are made fresh daily and you can taste the wine in it. The pizza is made with an old sour dough recipe and is piled high with a mix of mozzarella and provole cheese, the lasanga and ravioli are excelent too as well as the antipasta salad. a large number of italians used to run San Diego's fishing industry, and this is where they use to call home, the shops and restaurants there make you feel like you're in Europe and truely gives you an old world feeling and is just minutes away from the car show, I am telling you guys if you want to make points with the wife or girl friend , this is the show to bring her to.

Where is it going to be held in Old Town? In the middle of the state park on the grass? One of the parking lots? On an adjoining street? Up behind the actual park on the cul-de-sac? For some reason I can't imagine where you'd put a hundred cars together in that area. Any info would be great...

Please help me out here Miguel...

Parking for the vehicles begins at 7:45 to 9:45, after that no vehicles are allowed to park in the show area wich is on the grounds, you have to leave your vehicle there till the end of the show which is at 6:00 p.m.Thats why I suggest that you hang out at the show for a while and then ride the trolly and visit some of the sites near by, they will be plenty of police and security at the show and the trolly station is right there, for more info call Motorcult at 619 2991369 or e-mail them at eventsQmotorcult.com or fax them at 619 299 1333, they are only 100 car spots available for the show and the preregistration fee is 25.00dlls , or ride up in your regular car and there is plenty of regular parking or park at the trolly station.they are lots of hotels near by or on the grounds for those of you that want to make a weekend of it.

Another place you can visit from the show is the San Diego Maritime Museum, it is just a couple mile away from the show, visit the worlds oldest sailable vessel " the Star of India" and other ships from the late 1800's and 19th centuary go to http://www.sdmaritime.org/the-museum/ for more information, while you are there, visit Anthonys fish Grotto for some of the best sea food on the west coast.

Is there going to be any special parking for the general public there for the show? Just wondering because parking always sucks down there, even on a normal weekend. I would love to go though. Maybe I'll park up the hill at the mission and walk or ride my bike down.

Hamburgessa aka Rancho de Nopal was the place I used to love until a lot of Old Town got bought out and redone. Coyote Cafe is popular but I dont think they are nearly as good. Of course I am spoiled since I married a mexican girl who is an expert cook. lol Should be an awesome show. You can't ask for a nicer place to hold it IMO.
