Out with a friend -#322 - Hayseed Special. Ryan Krejci is the driver. Dave Thomssen built and has raced this particular car at Bonneville since the 1980s; he builds all the engines and is a flathead guru. Very cool car! --This Morning-- *Saturday* First P***: 156.925mph on the 162mph speed record Second P***: Car started getting hot and shut it down early at 147.635mph *Sunday* Third P***: Made a record qualification run of 163mph!! - if the car can back it up today..........
HAMBers TV and Hot Ron Von, AKA Quick & Easy set a record of 127 on the old 96 mph and backed it with a 126. Congrats to Tom & Kevin & crew...
spent the day on the salt on saturday and the evening over at the nugget. got some nice photos in both places. Photos have been posted at thanks2frank, enjoy
Hambers TomFritz and Greg Meyers from salt2salt racing were in inpound Sunday @ 133 and ran 134 today with a 182 inch destroked Stude engine with a 2.5 stroke 450 Holley I got many photos but can not post till next week, we are riding my Triumph through Bryce canyon.
Word I got late last night is the rain made the course a little rougher and sticky. My friends are stuck in the 216-219 mph range and no tire/gear combos left. Any other news?
Just got back from my "bucket list Bonneville visit". Just like everyone else says, "don't think it will be my first and last time to go." Here's a few pics from the Nugget Friday and Saturday nites.
HAMBer randaddy was going for the 350cc motorcycle record (cl*** PP) a couple of days ago when the piston burned up. The record is 132 mph, IIRC. The bike, ridden by Faus Sanchez, made 115 when the engine went. Hopefully they make the record next year!!
my baby brother is out there loading up as i write this, their pan head did 140 mph sat. the they started trying to tune and slowed down sun. with 135 mph, got ready to try again and found the case had cracked and was leaking oil bad, so it is over for them. last year they took a ot vette and spun out at over 200 mph man it took body parts off the car like it wasn't nothing. their bike is #3350 and they left the car at home this year.
Yep, They'll get it. Randy sounded so heartbroken when he gave me the news the other day. Oh, and that record is only 123, so they are very close.
Yep, They'll get it. Randy sounded so heartbroken when he gave me the news the other day. Oh, and that record is only 123, so they are very close. And he said the bike was still pulling.
Even broken that crew was a blast to hang out with! Their pit was my second home Might have been the Brats and cold Tecate?
I was having trouble with my fuel pump and kepping the fuel pressure regulated. It was the usual "not enough time to sort everything out before you go" thing. Got it sorted (sorta). We ran consistent if not very fast. Got two records 500cc SC/PBG at 111.494 and 500cc SC/PBF at 112.717. The best quarter speed was 121 which was down on last years 126. But nothing broke and I have no pride so I'll take them and go home happy. We leave tomorrow morning, sometime, whenever, no rush, place is too cool.
We got back home last night. Found broken bits of aluminum laying in the floor of the trailer........... will check where they came from, may be more than just a broken piston! We had a great time in spite of the break down and suffering from sinus gunk... never did dry out. Met a lot of good people and had a blast just hanging out. We were pretty bummed by the break and decided to pack it up and leave Monday. A big thanks to all who stopped by to say "Hello". Good to meet TMan and Rocky and, well too many to mention. We did get to see Mike Miller and Doug Flaherty again this year, met the French team ( Frank ) and the Fergusons, such neat people. We will be back!!!!! I hope to put up pics later today........
man there was a ton of record being broken this year by friends of mine ! had a great time on the salt and met a ton of new friends! such a great time . the best 3 quotes on the salt i heard: its the big white dyno you build the gun and ill put the bullet in it and last but not least theres a lot of decoys out here but you hot rod is a duck.
Just got the lower fairing off and took a deep breath, lit my flashlight and took a look. Heree is what I found, I think that rod thingy is supposed to be covered up by the bits of aluminum I found inside the fairing and trailer. More later........ Randy
