scrap iron headlight mounts

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by guy with a wrench, May 10, 2005.

  1. I built these for my T from s**** iron as the post says, took a lot of time with a die grinder since I didnt have a drill bit the size I wanted. Time well spent? Was it worth the effort? Gimme your honest opinion, just wanted to save money and be a little different.

Personally, I prefer seeing things that are homebuilt. From the pics, those look pretty nice.

Plus they look like they will probably get the job done. Good work...
Lets see the rest of the "T".

wow, thats the pinnacle of modesty! Looks GREAT!

I like the stands too. Like everyone else said, its even better you made them yourself.

How did you do the checkered firewall? I was planning making a post asking that.

    Keep it up

  10. I am not sure that I did it the "correct"way, but my 10 yr old son and I had a lot of fun doing the checkering(is that a word?) I used el cheapo spray cans. Paint the firewall white, layout your masking tape(I used 1") in a lattice form kinda like a wicker basket, then using a razor blade and alot of patience cut out every other square. When your tape is "checkered" spray on the black, wait til dry and remove the remaining tape. Thats how I did it. I screwed up at first try so overall it took me about 20 hours to complete it, but I practically did it twice and had a 10yr old with the attention span of a 3yr old help me :)

That looks great--both the mounts and the whole car.

Do you have any bigger pics?

  15. Fordy 6, probably not this year due to the plans for the engine, but with any luck nexy year for sure(should have the caddy there in July though)

Deuce Rails, no bigger pic atm, I seem to have problems posting very big ones but I will see what I can do in the next few days.

The next addition I should be picking up tomorrow, can't wait. I decided to make my own windshield from some stainless I found in the trash at a pizza place. Its my version of a duvall style, some may like it, some may hate it, but its cheap, made and designed by me and thats good enough for me.

Anything you build yourself is cool.

Not half bad looking, and like previously stated, different.
