    50 shoebox
I just recently bought a 50 shoebox for 500 bones
If you ask me I'd say it straight with little rust
But I am having some problems with the starter
It spins but does not engage the flywheel
I took it out to see what was up the bindex and
Bolts look good maybe a little dirty so I cleaned it
Up and put it back in and no luck so I took it out
Again and cleaned it again an did not lube it still
No luck so I am trying to get som in formation
On a so called " bracket the bolts to the oil pan"
Someone said that could cause the same problem
But I don't know what there talking about can anyone
    Help me out?????

Three things to check out. I am going to ***ume this is 6 volt.

    1. You may not have enough amperage to push the starter bendix out. Be sure you install all new cables for battery, starter and grounds. They probably need this anyway.

    2. Remove the starter again and remove the oil at the area where the drive spins out. This needs to be clean with no oil. It attracts dirt.

    3. Your starter may need rebuilt.

Is there a ****** kind of wires I should replace them
With?? And yes it is a six volt but I would
Like to convert it to a 12 volt does that call for
A new starter? Also iv been trying it with
A 12 volt battery will this effect it? I was
Told it would work but it could burn up the
Starter.. All of the wiring needs replaced so I
Have just been hooking the battery up directly
    Thanks for the help

    yikes....
Do not hook a 12 volt battery to a 6 volt system.....
I would explain but you have alot of catching up to do.
    1. Use 00 gauge wires for ground battery and starter wiring.
    2. No a 12 volt system will work fine with a 6 volt starter
3.Never directly hook up a battery to the car that hasn't been changed over to a 12 volt system.
    4. Yes all your wires, condensors, voltage regulator coil and distributor components, fuses, lights, switches, and gages will need replaced now that you hooked up 12 volts to it.
My god please start reading about the workings of an automobile before just trying ****.

I might not have explained it all the way the only thing I hooked up to the battery was the starter.... Nothing else was hooked up I was just trying to see if I could get the car turned over. It this time the car does not even have a coil I know I will have to get voltage reducers for the Gage, wipers, blower motor and stuff like that... I was told it would not hurt my starter so I just hooked up the ground and wire straight to the starter it does not even have a starter solenoid. The reason I am in need of replacing the wiring is because there is way to much copper showing and I just don't want to scab things together.
