Ok so Ive swapped the flatty out for a 302 using the jamco mounts. The problem I'm having is that it sits so far forward my pulley and water pump are hitting the factory radiator. Anyone know what specific water pump amd what pulley I need or do I swap the radiator which I'd rather not do...

No way to post pics at the moment. I'm posting from my cell phone. Getting ready to ask jamco but sometimes they take awhile to get back to you. More experience on here

I'm curious too , as I'm just about to do a Jamco-equipped 302 sawp very soon . If I recall you may have to set the rad forward , like a 6-cyl car had . I'm looking for rad options right now , actually , so that when the engine's in I can get goin' .

  5. I have the jamco mounts as well. I have yet to mock anything up. I'm going with a 302/AOD combo. But I don't plan in using the stock radiator.

mount the radiator like it was a flat 6 car, or get an electric pusher fan and get rid of the mech fan altogether.

you can try an electric pump or a pump from a 66 mustang 289, but then you would need the radiator to go with it due to the side that the outlets on.

mount your radiator forward of the core support, 6 cylinder style. then you can mount a puller fan in the core support area. the 6 cylinder radiator top tank is different as its shaped for hood clearance.

I would check out a shorter neck pump. I believe the fox body 5.0 pumps are shorter but the outlet is on the other side. I have both at my shop and can measure them and post a picture if it will help.

  14. You might want to double check this but I was told the serpentine belt pumps turn the opposite direction of V-belt pumps. If this is true it would make a cooling problem if you don't use the complete belt system.

Here is a detailed post to explain things to you: www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303600 scroll to post #5 Look at the pictures below to see the big difference between the '65-69 pump and the '70 and later pumps. First picture is a '54 Ford with the Fox body long pump, second picture is a '54 Ford with the 65-69 short pump and damper,BIG difference.;)

???....Don't understand your problem...I put an '85 T-Bird 5.0/AOD in a 50 Ford back in 1990...radiator didn't have to move and used the original fan on the stock waterpump...built my own motor mounts....why are these Jamco mounts pushing the engine so far forward?...I did have to modify the front crossmember for pan clearance..

I just did this swap using the Jamco mounts, another thing to watch out for is draglink to bellhousing clearance. We dropped our motor in and the Bellhousing was sitting on top of the draglink. I pushed the motor as far back on the motor mounts as I could then welded a plate on top of the trans bracket that I got from Jamco and redrilled the holes farther back.
