It was our first year and I was in such awe that I didn't take much pictures. But luckly my 5 year old got shutterbug fever and took over 600 pictures. With a bit of coaching and advise from my wife and myself her pictures turned out great. She kept asking if she could take pictures of all the cool cars and we let have at it. Her sister had a blast along with the wife and they already started making plans for next year.
A huge thank you to everyone that made this event happen. All the event people were great and everyone we talked to in the pits, on the starting line and just walking around were awesome.
Oh and to help p*** the time, we also made an air powered rocket launcher and we were shooting off rockets 100-150 feet in the air. A huge highlight of the trip!!
Being on the starting line was the best experience of the weekend, seeing the drivers strap in and the engine startup and the cars or bikes take off 10 feet away from you, nothing better.

So to see all the pictures and some movies from the starting line, click on the link.

Very nice snaps. I hate it when children with single digit ages have more apparent ap***ude than I do...

She also had a wierd fascanation with wheel and hubcaps. Most didn't turn out due to the glare or reflection but here are a couple

Awesome eye for such a young shutter bug. I haven't been to Bonneville yet, but it's on my bucket list. Seeing good pics and reading the experiences of others, only hieghtens my quest. Thanks for posting the pics and link.

Wow...I see photography in your future little one!!! There are cars that I didn't see on any of the other posts. It's amazing how great everything looks on the salt. Wish my parents took me to Bonneville when I was 5 yrs old...I had to wait until I was much, much older to go. Imagine the look on her teacher's face when she asks "What did you do on your summer vacation"???? Ha Ha!!

Great idea. You might have another Margaret Bourke-White on your hands before long. Gary

Those photos are insanely good for a 5 year old! Particularly these two. You should get her a DSLR for Christmas.

  21. She has the "EYE", do not send her to photography school. Just get her a better camera and have HER critque her own images. Send them to the magazines.

Fantastic photography! Please cover up the skin, when she is my age she could be full of skin holes like me.

    Superior!
As a semi proffessional, Navy trained Photographer of 35 years I must say, "WOWEEE".
As was said before, dont waste the time on formal schooling. She has the eye and her composition is good. Heck, for a 5 year old its fantastic. This is where you buy her a decent camera and foster the love in her. Letterrip!
Look for a couple photo books at yard sales or used book stores.
