We found out about it through a friend, and after checking it out, we decided to buy it. It's an original 58 Buick Limited 4dr HT. The owner's dad bought it new or nearly new, and kept very good care of it until his demise in 1990ish. The son kept it in working order until about 12 years ago. Then he cleaned it in the garage every now and then.

I can't wait to get it back to the shop and give it a good wash and detail. We plan on touching up the original paint and rechroming the acres of brightwork as time goes on. I have a feeling it won't take much to get it back on the road. It turned over easily with a fresh battery. The interior is like new! I couldn't find any rust-through, except for the lower rear bumper sections. I know a guy who fixes rusty bumpers.

For 2K, we couldn't let it go. I know a lot of you guys scoff at a lowly 4 dr, but with all the little ones running around that my brother and I keep making, I was actually glad it is the 4dr version.

So now we need to unload our 60 Ford Panel shop truck, "The Lipstick Pig". Someone local has already got first dibs on it, but if he p***es, I'll list it on the HAMB Cl***ifieds.

More pics coming next week, that's the first time we will have time to go get it. Here is a cell phone pic as we first saw it.

perfect car for you and your business. I know a local guy with a 58 olds 4 door and its freaking gorgeous. I know it cost him a mint to rechrome everything, luckily you wont have that problem

Ah yes, the QUEEN of CHROME. The good side, it's a Limited. The bad side, those damn things are so big, the front half will have to be lic in Indiana, and the other half, in Ohio.

Don't you just love the speed control in that ole boat? I presume it has the air ride...

Now much might be said about a 58 Buick Limited not being much of a hot rod or cruizer, but, I sure can remember a gal cruzing around way back in her folks 58. Her hanging out at the burger stands, looking for some of us bad boy hoodlums.

Now me, I like 58 Buick Limiteds too. No, it's got sold about 6 years ago.

Glad I could help you guys...really would have liked to buy the car myself...but right now it's another project or my marriage...hahaha....It was cool finding the car....and I certainly didn't want it to "get away"...so glad someone in our car club got it. My understanding is that the guy's father was the second owner. Original owner bought it in Oklahoma...then worked for the Dayton Airport and brought it to Ohio. It was then sold in 1962 to the second owner...he p***ed away about 12 years ago, and as you said in your original post, the son kept it running for a few years, then parked it in the garage for the past 10 years. Looking forward to seeing it on the road! I expect to be one of the first to be given a ride. lol

that is a nice car. and perfect for a crome shop.. great.. cant say iv seen any of them on the road as of late.. so its a hotrod in my book.

now you may need to put a blower and some other go parts on it if you want to keep up with trafic? laughs.

what is this about air ride? did these come with a kick *** suspension.

know very little about the time period in cars.. i grew up in the period when muscle cars ruled all.. and all i ever wanted was a 1970 six pack challenger when i was in high school.. or a 1960 F250 4x4 with a 390 4speed.. but ended up with a 69 baja bug for my high school wheels.. but, i never got one.. and now the prices for them gas hogs is crazy.. them luxo boats sure had some style.. rock on.

I saw one at a show, and it was a knockout. The only visible mods ((aside from lowering and Caddy caps) were shaving the door handles, which were just about the only functional pieces of chrome on the car. I loved it!

That is just awesome. It's so big and obnoxious that it's actually cool.

It's just the an***hesis of everything being produced today, so it would really stand out going down the highway.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Which is why I am dying to get my 60 Lincoln on the road... so I can park it behind my neighbor's Prius and really watch him howl.

If ya own a chrome shop that's THE car to have! Congrats, can't wait to see the progress!

We couldn't pull the car out of it's own ruts in the garage with the PO's 4X4 S10. Jimmy's 98 Z71 came to the rescue and broke it free from garage jail. We were afraid the brakes were seized up with how hard it was to start moving, but once out of the garage, it rolled free enough to almost run into the truck pulling it. We are very happy so far.

As far as keeping up with traffic, the engine is 300hp stock , so although it won't be a hot rod, theoretically it should keep up fine.

  18. I remember seeing a quote in a cl***ic car book saying that the 1958 Buick Limiteds Chrome was "put on with a trowel" I love it, nothing on the road even remotely like it. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Just what were '58 Buicks 'limited' to??? Not 'trim'...
Looks like the deco dep't at GM pulled out all the stops on these!

They ran a fair race with the other side of the wall, too. Oldsmobiles were getting a fair amount of glitter that year as well.

    Great looking old Buick!
Only down side I see is it needs to be a darker color to really show off that quality chrome work you guys do.

Deal of a lifetime for 2K! And you're in just the right business; what a sales tool for your services!

Even though it's "only" a four-door, it's still a hardtop, and not a sedan. These things look even more awesome with the windows down. Actually it doesn't have quite as much chrome as the slightly cheaper Roadmaster 75, but Harley and the boys made up for the "restrained" use of chrome by adding more length to the trunk!

With 300hp it shouldn't have any trouble moving right along, however, the problem with all the '58 GM cars was less than stellar braking; it'll definitely need an upgrade there. As I recall, the '58 Pontiac Star Chief I had years ago was way more exciting from 100 to 0, than 0 to 100!

Put the whole thing in the plating tank. Not much that isn't chrome on it.

What a lovely car, just leave it alone, it's a relic, a beautiful survivor and you scored.
