One piece pan gasket

Anyone here have any experience with the one piece oil pan gaskets - before and after comparison? DO they really work?

 

Are you talking SBC's? They work IF you have an OEM or quality oil pan and timing cover. If not, 4 piece and sealant. Either works well if properly installed and using parts that fit.

They are good but a little pricey!

 

On something like a 455 Pontiac engine they are a must have, can tell you that.

 

It's all I use on SBF's now.

 

I have a one piece on 2 sbc and 1 sbf, they work great.

 

yep, the fel pro 1 piece on small and big block work great!

 

Have one in all of my rides. They are good.

 

Love them. Plus they are reusable. I have a one piece on a sbc and a sbf. Installation is easy.

 

I'll be the first here to pencil in a complaint of a one piece on a SBC. It was installed in my engine while on the stand.
It ****s because it leaks. I may have installed it incorrectly. So maybe it leaks on me.

 

I've used them with my 302's and 460 with success. A little more spendy? yup. Beats the hell out of doing the job twice though

 

I used one on my sbf a had no problem with it

 

Costly ,yes but i use them and like them and have reused them three times on one engine. Proper installation is important ,must be clean and no other sealers used other than what is in the instructions if any.

 

Thanks for the input guys! Even if a bit costly, sure beats the heck out of wiping the undercarriage of oil everytime you go for a drive - that's priceless! I'll get on my Summit catalog now... Any pros & cons?

 

I got the fel pro version locally.

Feels like I'm cheating when I put them on old 283s from under the car....

 

Why's that, because they fit too good and don't leak?

 

cept the color.....i hate that blue.. my pan is polished and my block is black and you cant help but see the gasket....but it does not leak anymore sooooo...

 

I bought mine at Orielly's for $20, it came with new pan bolts even and those plastic holder pins

 

because it's soooo easy to put on!

I hate oil leaks to a point that I pulled the SBC out of the woodie and rebuilt it mainly to get rid of leaks. Used the Felpro gasket with a Champ oil pan. No leaks, period. Happy camper!

 

If you use them the way Fel Pro designed them the plastic pins they come with hold the gasket in place and allow you to push the pan over the pins till they snap through the bolt holes and hold the pan in place.
