So I need an artist. A artist that understands Hot Rods. I traded some work to have a "friend" to do a shop logo for me. Let's just say it hasn't happened yet.... So I am asking who have you used in the past and what was your experience like? Also if you don't mind could you show me the work that they did for you? Thanks. Matt
Chadillac here on the HAMB! I knew what I wanted but am a horrible communicator....there were a lot of "you know"s in my description of what I wanted and he came back with three options that were exactly what I never knew I wanted. Check out my website, has the logo plus he did the web page too!
Theres a lot of good designers on here... Maybe post some of your ideas for what you want. Then someone can chime in who works in the style that your after. Good luck Zach
I did mine myself using photoshop. Took a week or so. put ALL your ideas on paper and weed out the 'unwanted'. Buddy Vance does logos: 1-562-225-2741, does great work. Colby does great work! If you pay someone to do it, keep in the loop of the progress, look at it frequently and dont hold back; make sure its exactly what you want. When you see it, you will know it!
Tex Avery did the famous logo for Dean Moon. A friend of his did the cigar smoking 'Wild Woodpecker' that caricatured Clay Smith... A cartoonist that could caricaturize yourself would be the ticket here... I always wear a 1930s Fedora hat. (Indiana Jones style) A friend has drawn a caricature of me for my logo...trouble is, my ego isn't large enough to justify painting me on the door of my truck! He did me a tee shirt with the pic on it, and I was wearing it one day when I had to go to the mall...10 people had to tell me I looked just like the dude on my shirt! (they're real smart here)
I did mine and a few others. Back in the day worked as a graphic designer, highly influenced by the 50s and hot rod culture
I wanted a logo that was similar to the old custom crests that the old coachbuilders, and customizers put on their vehicles. I had lots of ideas, but couldn't get anyone to really put it all together. Then TeddyP put me onto Alan Johnson, also from NJ. He is a fantastic pinstriper, but he also does lettering and logos. I threw him my ideas, he whipped up a half dozen different types and subjects, and we homed in on the one I liked the most, He refined it, and did a great job rendering it, giving me a photo ready copy to do T shirst, and enameled crests for my cars. Couldn't be happier. A true craftsman, artist and gentleman! alanjohnsongrafix.com
HAMB'er HIDDEN did the art for my decal business. I'm thrilled with the way it turned out, hopefully the finances will allow me to have some shirts printed soon.
