Anyone have any tips on finishing (painting...etc.) steel brake lines to keep them looking presentable? I've tried searching this subject, and come up empty.
Hey Greaser!! I use the coated lines from NAPA, I like em alot! I used to paint my lines with a metallic grey marine rattle can paint also from NAPA.
I just rattle can them with the color of my choice. Skuff them up first with either a scotchbrite or steel wool pad. Mask the threads and flares and touch up with a small brush after assembly.
I used this style, good looking and protects the line. Many sizes. Continuous wound stainless steel spring stock to armor brake pipes on Bugatti and other French cars of the 1930's such as Delage and Peugeot. Designed for use with a 1/4 pipe: .032 wire, .312 O.D. Priced per foot. Available in two lengths: 5 feet or 10 feet. http://www.classicandexotic.com/store/catalog/brakes.pdf There are many vendors MUCH CHEAPER then this company. I'll post a vendor in a later post. Some nickle plated and cad plated. Size's to fit all sizes of brake line. The same thing that is used on OEM Vehicles. You'll see it around the master cly, and rear axle lines that run across the housing. .. .
